Can’t say enough good things about this place! The staff obviously enjoys working here. They laugh and talk with each other and customers. Our server Ernie was great. Food is absolutely delicious. Highly recommend the biscuits! Be sure to bring your appetite, they serve big portions. Of course, they also provide to go boxes. Best diner I’ve eaten at.

Service was great! Food was good but my hubby said his mash potatoes were cold and he asked for broccoli but they gave him green beans.

Went 2 times in 2 weeks. 1st time was breakfast, basic French toast 6 out of 10. The waitress Amanda, (10) she is absolutely wonderful. The 2nd time was lunch, and I had a burger with frys. We’ll burger over cooked & burnt bun & very dry overcooked hard crispy frys. The waiter wasn’t all there he kinda listened but wasn’t paying attention. he felt like he was in lala land. He didn’t seem to care. I asked a non crispy frys and burger med rare. Fail

I just had breakfast from our Woodland Black Bear Diner delivered for my son and me. I paid upwards of $70. I’m truly disappointed. I wouldn’t have even blinked at spending that for the two of us had the quality been what it usually was. I never like leaving a review where I’m complaining…I’m more of the type to leave one that is glowing or not leave one at all. But this has to be said. The Calif Omelet had zero cheese in it, on it, around it. I ate halfway thru the omelet waiting for the cheese to start, plus hardly any mushrooms inside. The very very few specks of chz inside weren’t even melted. The avocado on the top was gross…stringy lines that dont pull apart. Then the hashbrowns, or what they now call strip-cut hashbrowns, they were raw! Like I just pulled a potato out of the bag and started to eat skin amd dirt and all. My son ordered strip-cut hashbrowns (he loves hashbrowns and all COOKED potatoes) and he was sad/upset/mad bcuz he thought I ordered the wrong thing. THANKFULLY…his order of chocolate chip pancakes with whipped cream and strawberries made him happy. As for me, my breakfast was a wash. I kinda expect places like McDonalds etc to send some cold old food to me when I order delivery, but I didnt expect it from Black Bear. This was supposed to be a lil splurge. Im a single disabled mom and my son just turned 12. Im on a fixed income so for it to have not even been the expected quality of what Black Bear was known for, makes me mad. I can’t even blame Black Bear. I shouldn’t have trusted that the $70 would’ve been worth it, which it surely turned out not to be. So that’s my gripe/complaint. Maybe this happens to most delivery orders, or I’m just the lucky one today..that I can’t say. Just know that you may be throwing your money out the window if you’re wanting your food delivered for the ultimate luxury experience of eating delicious Black Bear food in your own home. Maybe the dream was unrealistic…something had to give.

Patty melt was cooked to specifications – I usually have to send items back or just take it home and cook it to my liking. Other orders were also made following special requests. And server was amazing about those requests, and also providing suggestions. I wish I could remember her name – it’s was Wed 28Jan2026 around 3pm. She provided great, friendly service.

I entered Black Bear Diner to observe what humans classify as “comfort food,” which appears to be a ritual involving enormous portions, beige color palettes, and the assumption that more calories equal more joy. The menu was vast, yet somehow every item seemed to be a slight variation of bread, grease, and optimism. Time moved strangely here—either very slowly or at a rate my internal chronometer has not yet calibrated to Earth breakfast standards.

The staff was polite and persistent, checking on my status with a frequency suggesting concern for my survival. I assured them I was functioning within acceptable parameters. The food arrived warm, heavy, and structurally sound, though its purpose seemed less nutritional and more ceremonial. I noted that the pancakes could double as insulation panels, and the eggs appeared to have surrendered long before reaching the table.

The dining room was filled with satisfied humans emitting contented noises, which I recorded for later analysis. I completed the meal but felt no desire to hibernate, despite environmental cues strongly encouraging it. I left with the understanding that Black Bear Diner excels at providing abundance, familiarity, and the illusion of satisfaction. I will not be returning, but I appreciate the data.

Friendly staff in the people business serving great food. Sara was professional and attended to our needs during breakfast. Our order of chicken fried steak and eggs was on the cold side. Sara took care of us and brought us a warm dish that we enjoyed and checked on us frequently.

Visited bear country for a hearty breakfast and it did not disappoint. The California bacon benedict was delicious. Poached eggs, potatoes and a side of fruit. Staff were friendly and welcoming.

Hard to believe this is the same restaurant related to the other Black Bear franchises. The food at this location is always subpar. Just had breakfast here again today.

Resulr: The eggs were cold, the hash browns undercooked. The chicken fried steak was all that was worth bring home. I left two of the three eggs, biscuits/gravy. Coffee was good. You can tell a lot about a restaurant if they ask about your experience. They don’t do that at this location. Drive by and go to the Davis location!

I’ve been to Black Bear before but not to this one. The only downside was that there was not a lot of parking.

The food was good. Our server was very nice and on it. My teenage son received refills on his drink before he could request them. Of course the portions are large and the same goes for the kid’s menu.

Everyone appeared to be enjoying themselves and everyone knew everyone. And even if you didn’t know anyone, they still made you comfortable.

Was not disappointed and was happy that the same service and quality of food I receive at the Black Bear by my neighborhood was experienced here.
