In 1995 founders Bruce Dean and Bob & Laurie Manley opened the first Black Bear Diner in Mt. Shasta, CA. Their mission was simple: create a fun and friendly atmosphere where the local community could enjoy huge portions of home-style cooking at a reasonable price. Today, we continue their mission at every Black Bear Diner across the country, as we passionately provide guests an outstanding experience. Our menu offers comfort food classics, and our entire menu is offered all day long. Whether you are craving pancakes at 8 pm or pot roast at 8 am – we’ve got something for everyone. BEARy AWESOME! This was my first time at a Black Bear Diner and it was really fun! I love the homey, lodge atmosphere with the black bear theme across the restaurant, it’s adorable. The food is scrumptious, I HIGHLY recommend the Cinnamon Roll French Toast, it has the cinnamon roll glaze, you can’t find that at your average diner! I was really impressed with it. The breakfast basics are tasty too like the ham, chicken-fried steak and eggs. The restaurant also sells Black bear themed merchandise if you’re a fan of the restaurant and bear. I enjoyed this feature as it reminded me of classic diners that used to sell merch in the entrance, it’s nostalgic. I bought a cute mug so I can remember to continue to visit this restaurant! There is plenty of table seating and the booths are comfortable.

I had never been to a Black Bear Diner before and I’ll definitely be back! I had a hard time choosing what to get as the whole menu sounded good. I ended up with the tri-tip and shrimp per the waitresses recommendation and it was delicious! It was fast and the service was great too. You won’t be disappointed with your meal and the portion sizes are generous.

The restaurant is excellent! My husband ordered Papa Chicken Fried Steak, and breakfast comes with health proportions . My son had Cuba bear kids meal. I ordered the mini volcano that comes with pancake, add strawberries, one egg, and bacon.

Went here for breakfast while visiting family in the area, and understand why it’s one of their favorite spots! Their Cinnamon Roll French Toast is absolutely amazing, and the portion is perfect. The Bear Claw is a generous size and makes for a great shareable for the table. If you like biscuits and gravy, this restaurant’s take is no joke. The biscuits are absolutely huge, being nowhere close to the usual Pillsbury often served. If you are in the area, or see a Black Bear Diner anywhere else, do yourself a favor and stop in!

I loved this restaurant the first time I came, but the last time I went, my service was really bad. The hostess completely skipped over me to seat two other parties until I stepped up to ask to be seated. And the waitress took forever to give me my check. Then the cashier took really long to check me out as well. It’s unfortunate because I really love the food here and the decor in the restaurant is great too.
