Black Long Beach is located in the heart of the Broadway Business Corridor in the Alamitos Beach District. Walking distance to the famous Bixby Park, known to locals as Cherry Park. Black LBC is a neighborhood bar equipped with a pool table, jukebox, photobooth and a projection screen. Frequently playing old movies, sports, skate and surf videos. Diamond in the rough for sure. Make sure to visit this place at the oddest times. They are phenomenal. You get to interact with wonderful bartenders, have great drinks, and feel at home. Just a few blocks from the beach, this place is a great decision before or after getting wet.

Some of the best damn pizza I’ve had. I also love their cocktails with mezcal. And they have a pretty solid draft list. Child pool tables in the back and plenty of seating. On some nights at can get pretty loud but otherwise it’s mellow.

I literally come to BLACK for pizza and pool, in that order. The Margherita Pizza is decent. I think the standout ingredient of the meal is the Basil. As a Pizza Connoisseur, I’m a big observer of the dough treatment. The sourdough crust quickly thins toward the center. The dough is soft in certain areas—crunchy in other areas. The sauce is present more so as sauce than flavor. I think the pizza is a decent size. I’m not a fan of the additional pricing (four extra dollars) for a Vegan option of the meal. I have a fun time playing pool though the pool equipment needs attention (dollar games, quarters). I like the interior. With all that, there are a couple pies I want to try.

I was pretty indifferent about this bar up until a few weeks ago. Nothing great about it, service average. Then a group of friends and I ended up there a few weeks ago. We had already been out elsewhere before coming here and one of my friends had drank a bit too much… He bumped into a few people and was quickly asked to leave, which was fine. My friends and I decided to head out with him, and walked out to see not just the bouncer arguing with my friend, but also some of the bouncer’s friends/bar regulars that I recognized from before. They were telling us to “get out of their neighborhood” (I live in the neighborhood) as we were walking away. Several of them then followed us across the street and got physical with us. We defended ourselves and they left, but I couldn’t believe these goons couldn’t just drop it and let us walk away. With the Mineshaft stabbing happening just a few weeks later, I would encourage Black management to clean this up so they don’t end up with another situation with someone dead due to senseless bar violence.
