I was a bit hesitant to try the butter chicken after reading some reviews saying it lacked spice, but I decided to give it a shot and ordered through UberEats, and I’m so glad I did! I ordered the butter chicken, tandoori naan, and veggie pakora, and everything was delicious.

I requested medium spice for the butter chicken, and it had the perfect amount of heat. The tandoori naan was soft and flavorful, though I wish I’d ordered two since one wasn’t quite enough for all that tasty butter chicken. The veggie pakora was full of flavor, and the chutney it came with paired perfectly.

Overall, I was really impressed, great portions, great flavor, and great spice. I’ll definitely be ordering from them again!

What a profound disappointment. I spent just under $100 (+$20 tip) for approximately three meals worth of food. I had asked for medium spice, and there is zero spice. Seriously, there is no spice on this food . The Butter Shrimp consisted of a takeout container of liquid, and just six small shrimp. I cannot overstate how small, how tiny these shrimp are. I have attached a picture. This costs $20.
The Beef Rogan Josh was oddly sweet….?! I’ve never had that dish seem candied before.
And the naan bread what is going on with that? Again, I have attached a picture. It’s flat and dense, and does not seem to be made in house (if it is, I apologize but it sure doesn’t seem that way). It’s floppy and flat and dense. Not like any naan but I’ve ever had in my 56 years.
I will say this – the Paneer Butter Masala was very tasty. At $18, I did not feel completely ripped off with that one.
I don’t know, I had really high hopes, and in the end this might be the worst Indian food I’ve had on the island so far. I see other people have had good experiences, and I’m genuinely happy for them.

A friend and I had lunch there and enjoyed two wonderful and satisfying meals. My friend had the non vegetarian special (she chose butter chicken) and I had chicken tandoori. The latter was perfectly seasoned and cooked. My usual experience is that tandoori chicken can be a bit dry, but not here. It was fresh, tender and juicy! I had a taste of my friend’s butter chicken and found it delicious, though a tiny bit sweeter than I’m used to. Both portions were generous and the prices very reasonable.

We were looking forward to a great meal. Very disappointed. Food was somewhat bland and seemed to lack authentic Indian flavours. We had the aloo gobi and chicken vindaloo with rice and naan. Very pricey for the portions served.

Where’s the flavour? I think they must be doing something tricky with the reviews as there is no way this place deserves a 4.6/5 rating. The food photos on the menu are gorgeous, but don’t expect anything that looks like this. The best thing was the hot sauce that accompanied the appetizer. We won’t be back.

BJ’s Indian Kitchen in Qualicum Beach is consistently fantastic. We’ve tried a substantial portion of their menu, and everything has been delicious. They can make dishes truly spicy if you ask, which we really appreciate. The service is always friendly and phenomenal, and their hours are a major plus in Qualicum—one of the few spots that don’t close unseasonably early. Overall, a terrific dining experience.

Excellent Indian restaurant in the small community of Qualicum beach on Vancouver Island (about 2 hrs north of Victoria) … they were open everyday when all other types of restaurants closed … excellent talent in curries and biryani. I ate there 2 of 3 days of my stay. Delicious and reliable…
