BJ’s was nothing short of great down-home, true Alabama flavor. Personally having family and being born there, it brought me back to the cookouts and reunions. The food was not heavy and did not lack any flavor whatsoever. The family owned business was very well maintained and very friendly. We had the beef, ribs, and chicken. The fixings were grandma approved, the potato salad, macaroni and cheese, and backed beans light and flavorful. If you are in South Tampa near Bayshore… Come! For sure it’s a definite GO!

BJ’s Alabama Barbecue was excellent — and that’s saying a lot coming from a Kansas City native! The ribs were smoked to perfection, the pulled pork was juicy and perfectly seasoned, and the chicken was downright delightful. The mac and cheese and coleslaw made great side dishes. The service was truly the best of the best. I’ll definitely be back — many times!

While the food was alright (honestly it was a little dry) but I’d recommend it if it were not for the ABYSMAL customer service. I came in to pick up an order my grandmother placed. Apparently it was an enormous issue that we were an hour late to pick up the food. I did not place the order, and had no idea that this order was supposed to be picked up until my grandmother asked me to at around 5pm. I had no clue about this policy of being on time, I am not even from here (I am from Baltimore), and I explained my predicament after they chastised me, and continually explained that I’d express that expectation to my grandmother. Despite this, they continued to berate me for the next five minutes while I waited for them to get the food together. They even made snide comments about me to other customers, which is so unprofessional it is almost hard to fathom. They swore at me and seemed to have a hard time understanding English, as I explained my situation very clearly and they still were so incredibly rude to me, despite me having a perfectly pleasant attitude even after they were continually rude and disrespectful. Food is not nearly good enough to excuse their awful and disgusting behavior. The older woman and the woman with the mustache were the main problems. It is a strong no on a recommendation.

Meat dry. No taste. Barbecue sauce is ketchup and hot sauce. Beans full of a cinnamon and sugar. Pie crust undone. Potatoe salad mustard and potatoes. Not pleased at all. Disappointed is an understatement. I’m from Bama and this isn’t it. To each is own.

BJ’S is a great local bbq spot. Everything we’ve ordered has always been tasty. Ribs, chopped pork or chopped beef are our go to. Sides are great too, collard greens, BBQ beans, green beans and Mac and cheese are are my family’s favorite. Just like any good bbq spot you go to, the ealier you go the better. Good stuff sells out. Prices are very reasonable.

I had the Ribs with Beans and Corn bread. The ribs were fall off the bone tender. There was a nice smoky flavor and a wet BBQ sauce on them. I would highly recommend. The Beans were too sweat, more like Boston baked beans than what I’d expect at a BBQ restaurant. The corn bread was fine if not great (a little dry).

People overuse the word “best”, not in this case. Best BBQ in Tampa. It’s that place that looks like a hole in the wall but has amazing food. I’ve tried almost everything on the menu and it’s all exceptional. Though my favorite is the ribs. The people are incredibly nice and prices are great. Small town feel in the city.

The food was incredible,I got the chopped or pulled pork lunch combo came with a side, I got Mac n cheese ,and a drink. The Mac n cheese is certified by Jesus because it is smackin,the pork had a bark on it with insane flavor ,the sauce I think is home made by them was sweet and tangy ,the portion of meat they gave me for 12 bucks could have fed a small village . First bite I knew ,I’m a first time customer and a lifer now .
