This place is now called “The Canal House.” The warm welcoming owners serve a thoughtful and interesting menu made from the freshest ingredients, in a quirky, homey setting. We spent three + days in the area and our Canal House meal was the best we had. We will be back.

We got into Harper’s Ferry really late after driving all day to get there. We happened across this restaurant, and I’m so glad we did. The food was INCREDIBLE! The atmosphere was very quaint and charming, and the food was prepared perfectly. The plating was also beautiful. This was a wonderful way to start our weekend getaway.

Great food in a super cute old house not far from downtown. The house-made andouille sausage was amazing! You won’t want to miss it! The server was super helpful. And took great care of us on a busy Sunday when she was the only person working in the front of the house with several tables. The chef even came out to talk to us after we raved about the sausage. We will be back on our next trip to Harpers Ferry!

Our family had a wonderful dinner here in the outside garden area. We had the steak special, which was very tasty with a nice subtle spices to enhance the flavor, and the half chicken. Both were very good portions after hiking in the lower town (we highlight of which was the great view from the Appalachian Trail as it passing over the Potomac River on the rail bridge. We ended our meal with a variety of very chocolatey and delicious brownie bites!! The service was excellent and the old canal house (with not a 90 degree angle in the building) is just a short drive up High/Washington Street from the historic and picturesque lower town (we were able to park on the street outside the restaurant).

I was really underwhelmed with this place. The food was tasty but seemed low-effort and lacked polish of a place that’s trying to be a fancy bistro. I’m not sure which portions were microwaved (chicken, I’d guess given the rubbery texture), but we heard the microwave operated several times through the night from the kitchen. Were out of most wines from a prior party.

Under old owners, this used to be my favorite restaurant. A vegetarian no longer has any options under new management. I sent a polite note, asking for imaginative vegetarian dishes to make an appearance (as it had been in past) and received a curt note back. If anyone in your dinner party does not eat meat- which is not uncommon these days-don’t bring them here.

Has potential to do great things. Good service, very quaint. If you’re paleo, there’s nothing here. Large portions, good flavors. Building needs some TLC but they’ve really taken a liking to shabby chic. Portions were so large it made us upset, even though mostly rice. Could give half the size portions and people would still take food home.

Wow is all i can say!!! Everything was absolutely perfect!!! We stayed behind the Bistro in the Canal House Cottage and after smelling the delicious fragrance our first night; we made reservations for the next night!
The food; beyond dlavorful, delicious, and lovingly prepared by Chef Kev!
Our server, Zack; extremely friendly, very knowkedgeable, and provided the perfecr dining experience not once but twice! We were so pleased we made reservations for the following night!!! On our second night we took orders with us of the dishes we couldnt decide on.
If you visit beautiful Harper’s Ferry and do not experience Chef Kev, his fantastic staff, and even more fantastic meals; you are missing the most winderful dining experience.
The Bisou Bistro; the Chef that obviously has a passion for flavor and bringing folks from every walk of life to the warm hearth of his wonderful establishment, and the most hospitable staff you can find have found a very special spot in my fiancee and I’s heart.
We will continue to return.

Special Thank You to Zack!!! Not just a server…a very promising young man.
Congratulations, Chef Kev!!! Your love and passion for fresh, flavorful food has been very much appreciated!!!
