I went because my sister-in-law went over a year ago, apparently it changed hands and now the only pie they carry is key lime and they were out because of a big event over the weekend. So I ordered the French dip to go and a lemonade. The lemonade was small but it was delicious, the sandwich not so much, it lacked flavor and was very dry, I didn’t even try to dip it, maybe that’s where all the seasoning was? You could taste more of the swiss cheese than the meat and it was LOADED with meat! The bread would have been nice roasted. The cubed potatoes that were served with it were bland too. So disappointed. I hate giving sad reviews and it doesn’t happen often, but they do have a beautiful atmosphere and there is room for improvement. Maybe it was an off day. The owners were wonderful so I really hope they make a go of this. I read some of the other reviews and many are very positive, so give it a try! Even if you stop in for a drink or a glass of wine!

Great local place! When work brings you to Laurel you need to eat local! Yes this was the restaurant that was on the show Hometown. It has changes some since the show all for the good. I had the Strawberry salad with chicken. Super yummy and I loved the dressing. I did get the Key lime dessert to go. I am a Key Lime connoisseur and it did not disappoint. The service was great, sorry i can’t remember the girls name. She was awesome! The place had the porch you could also sit and eat.

My wife and I ate dinner on a Friday evening. The staff was amazing, the food was delicious and the owner was so personable.

My wife said that her fruit and green salad was the best she had eaten in a very long time. The French dip sandwich I had was tasty and made to perfection. The strawberry shortcake was just delicious!

Stopped here on my way out of town Sunday and I’m sure glad I did. Owner is super nice. I had the Peach cobbler latte whoa so Yummy!!!! I also purchased a bacon cheddar scone or some type of delicious thing, a cranberry almond scone and an apple muffin. All very delicious. I would be coming back often if I lived closer to try the other food and drinks they serve. I imagine it’s all good. They have a selection of gifts and merchandise as well. Love the cats that lounge around outside the house too!

We had 24 hours to tour Laurel, our favorite Hometown. The Bird Dog Cafe was on the top of my list since it was closed last year. Thankfully it looked the same or very similar to how it did on the show. But, there wasn’t much on the lunch menu, the food was so-so, and the waitress we had was not great. I ordered a chicken salad sandwich. It came on a squished croissant and was tiny. It did include a side salad which was a pleasant surprise. My husband ordered French onion soup and he said it was very good. I’m glad I got to experience one of businesses from Hometown, but it didn’t live up to my expectations.

This is a cafe you must visit while in Laurel, Mississippi!! This was the first restaurant that Ben and Erin renovated on their show Hometown. The two brothers, Connor and Elliot, decided to sell their cafe to enter into a new chapter of their lives. Elliot was able to stay on as head chef with the new owner Karen. There have been a few renovation changes. It is a wonderful place to hang out, either inside or on the front or rear porch!! They are adding new dishes to the menu!! The morning pastries are too die for!! Stop by for brunch or happy hour!! Love the staff, very friendly and helpful!! I can’t wait to go back to visit!!

Amazing experience from food to service! My husband got the daily special, which the day we went was tomato basil soup with a grilled cheese. We both love tomato basil soup so I had to taste it after he raved about it. Absolutely delicous! I had Chef Elliot’s Salad and it was superb as well. Wonderful food and great ambiance!

Man, I really wanted to like this place. This was our first visit, and we won’t be coming back. We started out with some tartines that were on still baguette bread that you absolutely could not shoot. Our server, who was very good actually, brought it to the kitchen’s attention, and they remade them on some french bread, and they were delicious. It’s a small menu, so we ordered French dips for each of the four of us. The bread was good but the miniscule amount of cheese and meat was very, very disappointing. An Arby’s French Dip would have been far superior to this sandwich. The salads that came alongside we’re just okay. The croutons were from the same stale baguettes. We ordered the baked brie, which is a great deal for $20. It was actually a lovely presentation but the brie served almost at room temperature. Which definitely made it less appetizing. The flavor was good and the amount was massive. They definitely need to up their game.
