For a restaurant inside of a hotel the food is surprisingly really good. The staff was very nice and super accommodating, the food was hot and had some of the best fried green beans I’ve ever had in my life! I actually got the turkey bacon club two days in a row because it was so good and my mom and niece love the wings! I would have given a five star but they’re not open very late. Restaurant is only open until 9:00 and the bar is only open until 10:00. So we had checked in late we had to hurry up and Order which the waitress was super kind to rush us through so we would not miss the kitchen! But it’s delicious restaurant in a nice hotel.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Party of 10 sat down to celebrate a graduation and were treated to a new “graduation menu” consisting of 12 items (mainly pulled pork based dishes and chicken tenders). Sat for 20 minutes without service. Safe to say we left and it was a great call

Went back recently, and it just was not the same as I remember. Buffalo Mac wasn’t even an option anymore on the menu we received.

I was pleasantly surprised at how delicious my mushroom Swiss burger was. I was expecting a small, underwhelming and over priced burger, but instead I was served a delicious, big, juicy, cooked to perfection burger. Needless to say, this 9 months pregnant woman was happy! My 2 year old got the nachos that were half priced during happy hour and it was a huge serving of great steak nachos. Definitely better quality food for a sports bar than I was expecting! Thank you!

Visited the Bird Dog Bar for lunch with some colleagues. The bar was empty with only one waiter, who was also the barista at the hotel coffee shop. Never saw the barman or his staff. The space seemed bleak and uninviting, but we decided to venture inside. The service was slow, non- existent, and lacking character. Our waiter was basically absent. And the food disappointed. My turkey brie sandwich lacked character, and it seemed dry. The side veggies were cold. The salad ordered by our friend was unsatisfactory, and she did eat most of it. We decided to order coffee, and it was a disaster, too. The coffees were mixed up and incorrect. We had enough and decided to finish up and pay, and that too was an adventure. First, we had to find the waiter. The waiter then had to seek help from the reception staff to complete the card payment. I would not recommend this venue. And I would not bring any clients to lunch since the service was abysmal! The food could be better.

Food is fairly good, however, the service is painfully bad. We have been here multiple times for the food but every time our server takes an eternity to visit our table. We’re at hour 2 here and haven’t had a single check-in for refills or new drinks. We also had to get up and hunt down the server for the bill and then wave them down to take our card. Would make sense if the place was packed but it’s not busy. This has happened everytime we come here and won’t be trying again. Also, the $14 drinks are pretty subpar. Never again.

This place is a major mystery. It is the restaurant associated with a fairly fancy hotel that is located at the edge of University campus, but far from downtown. As such, there are literally no options for food nearby, particularly as the KU cafeteria in the Kansas Union no longer serves what could be described as food. so, the Bird Dog would have to be the source of breakfast, and potentially lunch for most of the patrons of the hotel. Crazily, the Bird Dog does not open until 11 AM, and now appears not to open all days of the week. This is not understandable, as you have people waking up at the hotel, and then realizing that they have a 10 to 15 black walk to the nearest place for breakfast. The hotel staff, when asked, recommend one or other of the downtown places, and say that it is just a few blocks… I walk those few blocks every morning… It is much more like 10 or 12 blocks! In sum, then, it really is hard to figure out the role of this restaurant, except if you realize that the hotel management does not care a wit about anything other than The patrons who come for KU game weekends. Extremely disappointing.

Personal welcome from the management was a nice touch. Something for everyone on the menu. Salmon cooked per personal preference: one more, one less done. Ribs were fall-off-the-bone and the Asian salad, full portion was nicely chopped, well seasoned, and provided plenty for the to-go box. Truffle fries were almost too rich and the marshmallow fluff whipping cream served with the sweet potato fries seemed a bite much. We’ll be back when the weather is warmer to check out the view from the 9th story roof top bar. (8 floors up via elevator and one flight of stairs; ADA elevator available on request)

Comfortable bar with lots of seating. The service was polite and personable, but the order was mixed up, and we had to sort it out.
