I ordered a dirty martini to start, and my husband had a coffee. Both were great, and gotta love the $4 price tag on the martini!
The service was friendly and professional. Our waitress was very understanding that part of our party was running late and she was more than happy to answer our questions regarding the menu. The entire staff worked very well together as a team.
We had the sweet potato chili crisp for an appetizer which was very tasty, and the perfect portion to enjoy a few bites before our meal without filling up. My husband who normally doesn’t like sweet potatoes even loved it!
My husband and I shared a Caesar salad, which they kindly split and served to us on separate dishes. The lettuce was crisp and the dressing was light but flavorful. Even the croutons were exceptional!
For dinner we had the family style fried chicken which they only serve on Sunday afternoon/evening. My husband and I had the whole portion which came with 6 pieces of beautiful golden brown fried chicken. The meat was tender and juicy and the (I believe gluten free!) breading was flavorful and crispy.
The mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts were also impressive. I thought the mashed potatoes had a lovely texture and flavor profile. The brussel sprouts had many layers of flavor that came together beautifully. They had a subtle sweetness that I really enjoyed about them. We devoured every bite of the mashed potatoes, and ended up taking a few pieces of chicken and some brussel sprouts home (my teenage son polished them off).
For dessert we had the blackberry hand pies which were crispy and flakey and had a warm and not overly sweet blackberry filling, served with a small scoop of vanilla ice cream. It was a lovely finish to a wonderful meal. This was the perfect comfort food for a cold evening. We went home with full happy bellies!
Cole waited on us and is always fantastic and our drinks, food, and service were all wonderful. The vibe just seems like everyone truly is enjoying themselves, staff and customers alike.
If you’re looking for affordable drinks, this is definitely the spot as it’s known as Home of the $4 Martini and they’re not just $4, they’re also delicious!!!
Atmosphere: 3 stars instead of 5 because of where we sat.
It’s a cute restaurant, but our friend’s made a reservation a week in advance and we somehow got the worst seat in the house in my opinion. The table right next to the kitchen door, that was constantly swinging open. There were about 3 empty tables in the room we were in, with one being a table right next to us (not right next to the kitchen) that was empty the entire time we were there.
Service: 4 stars instead of 5 because it started out rocky.
Our friend’s arrived early, not sure how long it took them to get their drinks. My fiancé and I waited over 10min for someone to even acknowledge us. I jokingly raised my hand asking my friends if that’s how you get a drink in this place and caught the eye of Jacob who came and took our drink and appetizer order. Jacob continued to check on us throughout the evening. I feel like he should’ve received the tip we left our server, or atleast part of it. Our server was more attentive after Jacob initially assisted us.
Food: 4 stars instead of 5 because of the chicken.
We all shared the spinach and artichoke dip. It was okay, the bread was the best part. I ordered the beet salad and crabcakes for my meal. They were delicious. Some of the best crabcakes I have tried. However, my fiancé and friend’s each ordered the brick chicken and no one was a fan. The sauce was more of a gravy, and the chicken was tough and hard to remove from the bone. The drinks were yummy and strong.
Overall, for the price it wasn’t all the hype.
