Where do I start? How about the friendly, inviting and knowledgeable staff and service! They welcome you in and are happy to greet you with a smile. The food….. some of the ABSOLUTE BEST bbq in all of Louisiana!!! Everything is scratch made and freshly prepared. I had the tacos and savored every bite of them as well as the to-die-for peach cheesecake Y’all just come on by and order anything. You won’t be disappointed. The atmosphere is full of conversation and they are faith based (which for me also draws me back to them!)

Finally got to stop by Big Thicket BBQ in DeRidder. Overview: this is easily in the top 2 BBQ places in Louisiana, along with Bad Wolf BBQ in Ruston. I asked for 2 meats and 2 sides but I guess they figured out who I was because these behemoth platters came out. Brisket was cooked well, pepper-forward and very good (and the sauce balanced them perfectly). Ribs were well balanced with a hint of sweetness. All three sausages were superb and the chicken (which I normally avoid) was delightful. The beans are the second best I’ve ever had (behind Riverport BBQ in Jefferson, TX) and the creamed corn and mac were awesome. The banana pudding is one of the best I’ve ever tried (so much so I ordered a second one to go). And I love their sign!

I had been wanting bbq for over 3 months and just haven’t been able to get it… I come all the way from Mo to La to find Big Thicket! Let me tell you, these people know what the heck they’re doing! From the house-turned- cafe to the friendliest people I’ve encountered in awhile, they got it down! The brisket was moist, flavorful and seasoned blackberry burnt ends spoke to my soul and the ribs don’t need any explanation then the greenbeans showed out with flavor, the Mac and cheese said, “you want some of me” and I said, I Do I can only imagine what the items I didn’t order tasted like and I’m not a coleslaw fan, but let me tell you I will eat that honey lime throw down anyday!

This isn’t my first time visiting. It is my first time visiting at the new location. The new location really suits them. It gives that country hometown feel and the parking is way better than trying to pull in their old location. Customer service was nice and welcoming. The menu was easy to read and they even put daily specials on a board outside. I got the 2 meat plate ( brisket and ribs side of DELICIOUS collards and Mac n cheese) and the tres hombres which is pulled pork, sausage and I think brisket on a monster bun with a little sauce. Everything was good THOSE collard greens ……oh man !!! The ribs are awesome too. One little suggestion on the brisket. If u can just put a little char on the fat it woulda been perfect but I just threw it in my air fryer on broil for a few seconds at home n it was delicious. The meat comes sauced ( u can actually go without sauce and it’s good but they give u a little cup of sauce on the side. The mac and cheese looked watered down but FAR FROM IT. The mac and cheese was velvety smooth. I was a little shocked at the price for what I got. I expected to be paying more but my total was a little over $30 and some change. The lady gave me the total and I thought to myself well dang I coulda ordered more. I hope soon I will be able to place a order online for pick up. LoL I would be there too much then !!

I got a 2 meat combo with brisket and pulled pork. My sides were pit beans and cajun green beans. The pulled pork was delicious. It was moist and had good bark and seasoning on it. The brisket had great texture but was lacking bark, smoke flavor, and it really didn’t have much taste. The sides were very good. The portions were generous. Definitely give them a try if you haven’t yet!

Came here with my family as first timers and the food was not all that great. We spent around $50 for three drinks, one taco, two meat plate and a half rack of ribs. The price is kind of ridiculous for the quality of food we received. My husband ordered the two meat plate (ribs & brisket) with two sides (beans & mac n’ cheese) and the plate only came with two ribs and three slices of brisket. The ribs and the sides were also heavily seasoned with pepper. On the upside, the inside of the restaurant is nice.

Food is always so good here and comes out in good time. They have a baritone options of meat and ways to enjoy their food. Only thing I wish was different is they were open later. Would like to enjoy their food after work for dinner.

First time today! Good quality BBQ! Had the taco plate with Texas tot casserole. Brisket and pork were both seasoned perfectly, tender, and juicy. Casserole was delicious! Very friendly staff. Great service. Prices very reasonable and food was worth the cost. You won’t be disappointed!
