We did lunch at Big Papas today. It was the first time for me. I got the grouper basket and my wife got the pork chop special. Everything was very good. We had fun sampling each other’s plates. Service was friendly and appropriately attentive. There was something slightly different about their Mac & cheese in a good way. I’m glad we tried it. They are located on the square in Downtown Quincy Florida. We will go there again when we get the chance!

The hostess asked if we had reservations when we entered, but we didn’t because this was our first time here. We were told that it gets really busy at times, and it sometimes helps to make reservations. The wait wasn’t long at all… the service was great. The food was really good. They have complimentary biscuits and cinnamon butter that was so delicious. They have inside and outside seating. Not a very large dining area so make those reservations lol!

The ribeye was a little burnt on the ends but well seasoned. Too much season for my liking. The wedge salad was good but the bacon crumbles were cooked to long. The bread rolls and butter are always fresh and good. The garlic mashed potaoes are very tasty as well. Overall the food was great, and the staff. OH! the garlic shrimp was superb!

We visited the Saturday before mother’s day. I was excited about trying a new place from the reviews and pictures. Some arrived and it was busy, told there would be an hour wait. We waited, and after about 4 tables left for greener pastures, we were called.

After polling Facebook food groups, turns out this is THE place to go in Quincy. The people were not wrong because it was great! Friendly, prompt service. The bread and butter are wonderful, for starters. I had the Wednesday shrimp and grits, along with their collards. The shrimp was seasoned perfectly and the grits, the right thickness and buttery flavor. Collards solid. Husband had the filet and said it was better than Shula’s! Mashes were a bit bland but Mac and cheese was good. All in all, a tasty and filling meal; large portions right for the price. I look forward to coming here again!

Swung by here to enjoy some food. Great service, nice and clean restaurant! Ordered the steak and catfish. Catfish was excellent! Sadly nothing exceptional about the steak and was over cooked. Again service was excellent though. 50/50 if I go back.

I’m giving all 5 stars because every time I go there, whether busy or not so busy, the food is always super yummy, the service is great, and the atmosphere is friendly and welcoming. At least one of the owners has always been present and they take a genuine interest in your dining experience. They don’t serve alcohol, but you may bring a bottle of wine to be opened without a port fee, which is awesome!! I am definitely a returning customer!!

We absolutely LOVED this restaurant! If you’re ever in Quincy, Florida, you HAVE to go to Big Papas Chophouse! Amazing food, fast service, and the friendliest staff. We had the priviledge of meeting one of the owners and her son, they are so nice! We will definately come back and make it our new family tradition when we come back to Florida
