Our first visit to this location, we have always gone to Dots in Wilmington. That location was closed so we ventured over to Dover. Very cute atmosphere – loved the themed decor! Food was not quite the same as other location – not cooked as well, eggs over cooked, toast partially burnt, asked for water twice and never received. The menu has a great variety – maybe just caught it on an off day. The original Dots in Wilmington is no doubt a 5 star – hopefully this location will improve as well.

EFFICIENT MOVING
The food is good, not as good as the Dots in Wilmington.

For what you pay for, it’s average fare. For example, I paid $6 for their “dot” sandwich, consisting of an English muffin, an egg, a sausage patty and cheese. Solid sandwich, but also a solid hit to the wallet!

My daughter and i Ordered breakfast. They say there under staffed to be patient. We have plenty of patients. I don’t have patients for cold food.

Dot’s used to be on the list every time we’re in Dover, and it just isn’t anymore. The food has simply gotten simpler and less tasty over the last couple of years. Portions are small, things are overcooked, and the dishes are just bland. I know it’s a tough time for restaurants; I would happily accept higher prices to bring back the high-quality filling meals they used to serve.

This place has been around for decades, and it was quiet the day I came in with a friend. We were the only ones there that afternoon. Staff was friendly but four out of five stars because, well… there was a special on the menu, chicken salad on a New York “style” bagel, and it was being pushed at me as a suggested order by the waitress. I already told her no once and then when she pushed I tried to politely tell her I didn’t want it because I’m a NY’r, and it’s hard for me to enjoy bagels outside of NY state. She replied “Its New York style, though!”. I know how I must sound to some, and I swear I was SUPER polite about it because of how it sounds coming out. BUT I being from New York, specifically a region where bagels were born, you aren’t selling me on this New York “style” bagel. I’m sorry, but it’s a no for me, it will just ruin my meal. So I asked the waitress if I could put it on a different kind of bread, like white bread (which is wayyyy cheaper than a bagel) and she was offended and tells me “Well then I have to charge you more, it’s not a special anymore”. I said, “Okay, then I don’t want it and will get something else.” And I chose something else, I don’t even remember what I ate I just remembered that incident…so that was my recent take on their place, unfortunately.

We had an amazing breakfast. The restaurant was roomy, well lit and spacious, with the comfort of your family diner. I ordered the corn beefed hash – picture all the good qualities of the canned kind (salty, small chunks of meat) but FRESH! And with red and yellow peppers and potatoes. Just a really tasty hash. Highly recommend!

Food was pretty good. Husband ordered the McDot deluxe which was supposed to be on a hoagie roll, it came on a burger roll but he said it was tasty. Coffee was cold the first round and when I say I cold I mean it wasn’t even luke warm. She didn’t bring milk or spoons for coffee. We got milk after we asked for it but no spoons. We used our forks. Waitress told us she couldn’t seat a party of two in a booth cause that was for four people and since we were only two we could have a two top inside or a two top outside which was a little bigger. Just in case the empty restaurant filled up and they needed a four top. We sat outside at the bigger two top. The next guest came in as a party of 1. She sat him at a table for 4. She did get job fine but she just wasn’t very pleasant.

So the people who work there are AMAZING and just doll babies. The location and cleanliness is amazing. But the food is so un-seasoned that even polish and brits would complain about the lack of flavor. I had biscuits n gravy, which entails…biscuits and white peppered gravy (I’m from the south, trust me I know) and it had no pepper. The bacon had NO FLAVOR which..is impressive af bc it didn’t even taste like bacon. So if you have a “renal” diet or have a sensitive tongue this place is perfect! I also wish I could give a better review bc I loved the staff, but I came here 3-4 times so far and always have been irritated when I ate my food, which it’s a food establishment.

What an enjoyable breakfast…everything homemade…corned beef hash was the best I have had in 50 years. The ham was sliced fresh and grilled to perfection. Eggs were done perfectly, homemade sunflower toast was incredible. Service by Karen was outstanding. And you can bring your well behaved dog for their outdoor seating to boot. I highly reccomend Betsy’s (Dot’s of Dover) to both residents and visitors alike, for this absolute treat of deliciousness. Check it out, you won’t regret the visit.❤
