This place looked very nice and the atmosphere/decor was elegant and well done. The service was rude. They didn’t do a bad job, but they were extremely unfriendly.
We ordered the burrata and seared scallops to start- the scallops were good but small portion, the burrata was the worst I’ve ever had and extremely small portioned. We ordered some steaks and salmon for entrees- salmon was excellent and a large serving. The steak was ordered medium rare and definitely cooked well over that. Very disappointing. We ordered fries, brussel sprouts, and the mushrooms as sides- the fries were just okay, and the brussel sprouts and mushrooms were the only truly saving grace from the experience.

In the end, the cost was exorbitant and not worth it.
I would not come again.

Came here for an event, the food was really good! Friendly staff too! Tried the scallops, tbone ribeye, lobster mac and cheese, creme brulee and some other sides and everything was good! Shishito peppers, mashed potatoes, creamed spinach, crispy Brussel sprouts, onion rings are all good

If you want the best? Come to Benjamin’s can’t believe how great this place is. Also they have an amazing party room upstairs. Come and speak to Andy (nice and down to earth). I’m here for a private party and I absolutely love the vibe. 5 stars.

Poor service but great food. Came here to celebrate my birthday during restaurant week. We got lobster bisque, Italian burrata, sirloin steaks, creamed spinach, Brussels sprouts, and chocolate mousse cake. The steaks were great portions and deliciously cooked. However, my husband has a nut allergy that they could not accommodate for desserts. They had no idea what was in their desserts (but they did know for their sides), making me suspect that they don’t even make their desserts and must just buy it from some supplier which is disappointing for a steakhouse with their reputation. Further, they said they could only guarantee that the tiramisu had no nuts (this must be the only dessert they make themselves) but would charge us extra to get that instead of one of the 3 restaurant week dessert items. Honestly we were shocked that they wouldn’t just swap out the desserts to accommodate a nut allergy, given it was due to their lack of knowledge about their own desserts. My husband ended up not getting any dessert and they did not comp us for that either. Overall, we really liked the steaks and probably would have come back if it wasn’t for the poor service and potentially supplier bought deserts

Visited NYC and utilizing my Marriott Vacation Club points vouchers and stopped or lunch. I ordered from the prix fix menu and there was a nice variety to choose from. I had the house soup~ medium well steak ~ ice cream as dessert. The staff were friendly & attentive, the rest rooms were clean.

This was the worst steakhouse I’ve ever been too. I litterally had to argue with the waiter for 5 minutes to get a bottle of still water. The burrata tasted like it was store bought and not from a good store either. Table next to us was a folding table like from the 90s. I had to argue with our dumb excuse for a waiter to get a wine list then they couldn’t find the wine I wanted from the list and sold me a $65 bottle of Riesling that tasted like I bought it from a gas station. Waiter was so scared of me he would only come to the table when I left the table and I didn’t even do anything. Table behind us also hated it here and the manager talked back to them about how they were “trying”. They never brought us bread. They brought me the wrong desert and what they brought me tasted like chain supermarket pumpkin pie. I wouldn’t recommend this place to my worst enemy. Complete waste of my money. They canceled my open table reservation soon as they sat me 30 minutes after my reservation time, so I didn’t get the credit for the reservation or the opportunity to leave a review.

I have to say I did enjoy this place a lot. Some of the experience has to do with the fact that I was alone, and tables for 1 seem to always take least priority. I came in and had a reservation. Was seated right away. I got bread and some water. I didn’t get a menu though until quite a few minutes later and had to ask for one. I noticed the couple next to me arrive, were given menus and water and bread immediately and asked if they wanted drinks. Anyway. I know from decades of experience that this is all minimal details if the food happens to end up being excellent. I got the Caesar salad. Excellent! And it’s not an enormous portion. Knowing you’re getting 3 courses, you don’t want to overstuff with salad. Then the sirloin. Only at Striphouse Downtown (the original) have I had a sirloin THAT cooked exactly medium. It was a really nice portion and when I sliced in I knew from it being so butteringly smooth, the way it sliced right in the flavor was going to be amazing. It actually got better as I ate into it more. I was absolutely in heaven. I hope they read this because I’m a huge steak afficionado and I know the restaurants aren’t in competition directly but I thought it was just as good as Striphouse. Now the mashed potatoes were also a smaller portion but with all that food you don’t want something heavy. It was whipped beautifully. And the chocolate mousse was excellent. I wish I could have finished because I have a digestive condition and the dairy on top of the everything else wouldn’t allow me to continue but what I had of it was absolutely stunning. I would return again for the steak alone, even though of course I’ll have everything! Thank you, Benjamin!

We visited here on a Friday night and took advantage of the restaurant week menu which was a great deal ($60 for 3 courses). We had an early table at 6pm but within half an hour the restaurant really started to fill up.

We went with the calamari and bacon starters. The calamari was not what I was expecting (I was expecting deep fried but I should have read the menu properly) but was tasty nonetheless. The bacon was a little fatty for me but I think that is just the nature of the dish. We both went for steaks for our main course and these were cooked nicely, although nothing standout or amazing. For sides we had the Brussels and the mashed potatoes, these were both really good and would highly recommend. Finally, I had the mousse cake for dessert and my other half had the carrot cake. Both of these were delicious, although we were too full to finish.

All in all I would say this is a solid steakhouse. Would I return? Probably not as there are so many steakhouses in NYC, but I also wouldn’t advise anyone against going.

Had a reservation and my guests were running late. I called and let them know it would be a 20-minute delay. The host over the phone said thank you for communicating and we’ll have you ready. Arrived there with guests, and I could say honestly it was a packed house inside. Greeted by the host, we let them know the party had arrived. We waited an additional 13-15 minutes to be seated. The level of service at this point was mediocre, lackluster, and not steakhouse quality. Felt more like an after-hour bar spot than a steakhouse experience. While calling other places as we were annoyed, we finally got a table, sat down, and we knew what we came here for: porterhouse medium rare with traditional sides that pair well. We ordered some cocktails and got everything out of the way. We made sure to ensure that our steak came out medium well. The server, Dre, was waiting on other tables, so I understood the level of commitment he had when taking care of other guests, but felt like I didn’t get a catered, house-warming feeling like traditional steakhouses carry – more like service at Applebee’s or takeout somewhere, to be honest. The porterhouse comes out, and server Dre serves us. I inspect the steak and see that it’s super charred, but that doesn’t make it steak, right? Upon inspection, it was indeed medium rare, but what struck me is that it tasted mediocre, like not what high-quality beef is supposed to taste like. Now, I’ve been to a tremendous amount of steakhouses within years, so I would figure that this was not indeed the quality nor the experience I was expecting coming from a place like this. The cocktails were mediocre as well, and I definitely asked Dre if there were any house cocktails or cocktails that he would recommend, and he was no help. I definitely just opted for a lemon drop, which was watery, in a sense. All in all, the only thing that was phenomenal was the spinach, which was 10/10. Other than that, the steak was 4/10, the experience was 2/10, and the best part of this was probably the bathroom, where the mirrors are good and there are assortments to freshen up. Other than this, it was a hefty check that didn’t amount to anything worth paying. I walked out of this establishment not full, still hungry, and just charred taste from a steak as after-breath. I would not recommend Benjamin’s prime to anyone.

Food here was fantastic. Loved the bread a lot.

Out of the sides we had, the creamed spinach was my favorite part, but we also got the canadian bacon, and lobster mac and cheese. I would recommend all three. The bacon is unique compared to other places I’ve had it.

For the steak we got the porterhouse for two. Very good. We probably ordered one too many sides, because by the end we were struggling a bit. Thankfully did not order dessert.

Service was very average, the tables were a bit tight, but it has the feel factor. This is a more recent restaurant, so its atmosphere trends a bit more towards the generic 2000’s steakhouse feel, but the fare itself is better than many others I’ve had.
