One of the best roast beef poboy’s I had in awhile. Recently moved to Covington and was told to check this place out. They do have limited hours and days they are open which is a bummer because I would love to eat here more often but due to my work schedule and the hours they are open it’s a bit hard. They seem to get very very busy so keep that in mind if you are in a rush or limited for time maybe try calling in your orders ahead of time. I will definitely be back again if I get the opportunity and would definitely recommend this place to anybody.

I went to Bears restaurant for the first time last week. I ordered a shrimp on bun which was amazing and a roast beef poboy. Everything I ordered was very hot and fresh. However my roast beef poboy literally had no gravy. The poboy just had hot roast beef equivalent to lunch meat and was dressed with mayo , lettuce, pickle, and tomatoes. I decided to go back in Bear’s and express that my roast beef poboy had absolutely no gravy so I was then offered a “cup of gravy”. I respectfully declined because had I asked for my gravy on the side , that would have been okay. I never requested a refund because those were not my intentions. What I did expect was to at be offered to have my poboy remade with gravy (the way the order was initially placed). The manager told me it was nothing she could do if I did not want the cup of gravy in front of a store full of customers. She literally did not care and it was probably because she assumed I was seeking a refund when I just honestly wanted exactly what I ordered and paid for. My customer service experience was horrible with the manager. The workers were very nice abd eager to assist.

Must be me because its very popular, but I found the roast beef poboy average at best. Bread needs to be toasted, way to heavy on the mayo and the roast beef seemed store bought. It was deli sliced and not like a roast with debris

Roast. Beef. Poboy. Fully dressed with fries. That is all you need to know. I had the second half of it this morning and I just had to go leave a review. Seating could be better, and a little bit of a wait. But absolutely worth it.

Service was fast & efficient .Friendly staff. Clean tables & seating area. Food was awesome, fresh ,tasty. Sandwiches were packed with meat, fresh French Bread(Po-Boy) the Roast Beef was tender, tasty, gravy was great. Best I’ve had in years, closes at 3pm, so check it out. Very crowded but line to order goes fast and efficient by decent & dedicated staff. Table area quickly cleaned up after patrons who didnt pick up after themselves. Restroom was clean ,Hot water and paper towels, soap provided. Just off busy Hwy 21-N Collins, crowded parking at peak times. Suggest go after 2pm, a line but goes quick. Try the Roast beef po-boy…The Ferdie(ham & roast beef combo) Amazing!

I’ve been coming to bears with my gramps since I was little. The staff is always super friendly. The food is top notch. We always get a roast beef po boy and some root beer. Prices are affordable and the food is great. Other options aside from roast beef is chicken shrimp ham and more. The place is super clean. The only downside is the parking since it is a pretty popular spot parking can be a haste but I would highly recommend to anyone that likes a good po boy sandwich.

7/11/2018 – Been here several times since the last review and it’s always good! Still struggle with all the mayonnaise, but I don’t dare change the recipe. It’s still a hassle everytime I go… but always worth it! Upping the rating to a 5!
12/14/2017 Man… this is the po-boy place on the northshore. The roast beef is kicking, but I always get the Ferdie. It’s a roast beef with grilled ham and Swiss cheese on it. Many people complain that there is too much mayonnaise on it, and I agree. I’m just too scared to say “light mayo” for fear of losing the magic. There’s always a wait, not enough seating, they’re open odd hours, and they don’t take credit cards, maybe they do… but there’s a fee or something. So the bottom line is… the locals know how it works and call their orders in, they bring cash, and take it back to work to eat it… lol.
