The decor and views are stunning. But that’s where the good news ends. We did the tasting menu at $270,000 per person.
Service was pitiful. Courses were piled on top of one another, despite barely eating multiple courses and refusing the last two we were never asked how the food was, table was not maintained and dirty, utensils were taken away and not replaced. For only the second time in my life I left no tip (and I eat most of my meals in restaurants).
Hard to believe it possible, but the food was even worse than the service, ranking in the bottom 1% of all “Japanese” food I’ve eaten. (As an aside, the cuisine and preparation are not actually Japanese). The sushi was not fresh, salmon was terribly fishy, ribeye was a different cut and without the advertised truffle. Even the rice was a disaster (overcooked, flavorless, weighted down with an excess of oil). Don’t waste your time, calories or wallet eating here. Have a drink at the bar instead and take in the views.

We had a great dinner a Ushin, which provides nice ambiente and a great variety of food. From Miso Ramen over to their famous grill, over to tasty Gyozas. Especially the items from the grill are recommended, as they are served over traditional Japanese coals. Really a nice experience. I was having a great time, only little critic is that the music is a bit loud in some areas in the restaurant. Other than that, perfect place for special moments. Also – great view is included, and prices are more than fair!

Let’s talk about Ushin. If you are considering visiting anywhere in South America and want to include an incredible evening and food, then you simply have to stop off at Ushin Japanese & Grill at the Grand Hyatt hotel, Bogota. I’ve been to a lot of nice hotels and restaurants before but this beats them all hands down. The view from the restaurant is amazing. Looking out over the city and the gridlock. Make sure to visit when the sun has gone down, just to experience the best view. While it is pricey, it is not as expensive as the restaurants at home (Dublin, Ireland). The service is fantastic and the menu is brilliant. Loads of options for every taste. You have to visit South America and you must include Ushin at the Hyatt in Bogota to complete your trip.

If you know about Asian food, this place will be a disappointment. If you can tell what is good Japanese food, better stay away from this place. If you just want to explore Asian or Japanese for the first time, this place might be a good starting point for the first timer. Service is overall on okay side. My food came out all cold. Those grills equipment turned out only for the decoration which is hideous. I left most of food after just single bitezzz
