Our family makes an annual pilgrimage from Acadia NP to Beals Island and Bayview Takeout to enjoy THE best lobster roll in Maine. Very generous serving of fresh, sweet lobster meat with light mayo and a perfectly toasted and buttered split roll. Lots of other great lunch and dinner options and delicious Gifford’s ice cream, including the “Biggah Belt!” – THE best ice cream deal on the coast of Maine. Owners Frank and Sarah Alley do a great job serving the local community and CFAs* like us who wander our way across the narrow bridge from Jonesport to find this authentic outpost of “wicked good food.”

The lobster rolls were full of meat, just a little Mayo, nicely toasted bun. Some of the meat was on the chewy side but overall a very good lobster roll.

This is a WONDERFUL place to go out to eat. The food is great, the employees are friendly, and if you hit it just right you’ll enjoy live intertainment which I truly enjoyed 3 weeks ago. The band was AWESOME and I enjoyed the whole experience out that day. So if you want a nice friendly atmosphere with the down east locals give this place a try!!!

Portion sizes were enormous and the quality was fantastic. The best thing about the place was the staff member who greeted my party of five Malaysians and a baby and got our orders perfect, and she was the one who reminded us we get a 10% discount for staying at the nearby Kelly Lodge! A must-visit if you’re in the area.

Food is good…but please make sure to add your order up 1st and double check it. We lost money this trip. With 4 people that go every year….once a summer, we usually pay around 44 to 50 bucks for all of our food. Cashier wouldnt even add it up to see her mistake either. $50 turned into $70…..

Loved by locals and tourists alike, this hot spot boasts fresh and delicious local fare and mouthwatering ice cream that will make you save room for dessert! My wife and I stopped by around lunch time and shared the haddock chowder, grilled cheese and lemonade special on Thursdays. A scoop of Gifford’s ice cream finished off our meal, all eaten with a view of the bay in Jonesport. Clean, family friendly, lovely staff. Worth the trip over the bridge!

We went to Bayview to try the award winning lobster rolls and left unimpressed. The lobster lacked flavor and just wasn’t great. We then ordered the basket of fried items (scallops, shrimp, clams, haddock) and so not impressed. Again, everything was lacking flavor.
The lemonade also tastes as though it is countrytime powder lemonade, so don’t expect fresh lemonade. Overall it was just average food but it had a gorgeous setting and waterfront view.

This rating is based only on ice cream – not food. We ordered one hard ice cream that was freezer burnt with ice in it. The soft serve vanilla is basically a tasteless base for the flavor syrup they add in. So if you want a flavor go ahead, but I don’t recommend getting plain vanilla. And my cone was stale and chewy! Really disappointing!
