Fabulous brunch experience at Basilico, Cove Rotana! Love everything from the ambiance to the selection & taste of each food! My personal faves were lobster & steak (make sure to request to grill). Love the chicken and seafood siomai as well.

I have always heard good things about this place, so this time on my RAK staycation, I planned to visit. We came for brunch but stayed till the sunset.
The staff is very friendly, especially Aka, who advised on the various menu dishes, and made sure we were comfortable throughout the time.
We started off with Mexican Harrira soup which was delicious, moving to a Veg Buratta Pizza, very fresh and thin crusted.
We also ordered a custom pink sauce Chicken & Mushroom Pasta, which brought back some Italian memories.
I would recommend coming here in the day to experience and order the Aroma cocktail with it, or coffee as you prefer.
I am definitely visiting again, especially for the calmness.

Spent a beautiful brunch here with the mothers, was peaceful and beautiful. The vibe was calm and very comfortable. Thank you for having us. The food was good, exceptional quantitiy however the desserts slightly failed us. But hey may be another time.

We visited yesterday, FEB. 14, 2026, for dinner. The receptionist in the entrance, PALLAVI, is very rude. I showed her my reservation via Google, but she insisted that she didn’t receive our info and SHE REFUSED TO LET US INSIDE THE RESTAURANT. We asked for the supervisor, Zayed, and he immediately saw our reservation online. MISS PALLAVI has one job, which is to check the reservations for guests, but she failed to do that one job. She asked us to leave the restaurant without even glancing at our reservation on the laptop in front of her. This was not our first time visiting this restaurant, and we always come back multiple times because of the steak. This is the first time we were treated poorly by the staff; it’s really disappointing.

The restaurant evokes positive vibes. The outdoor seating area is quite good with scenic views of the sea side and villas. The food was great and the service team was professional and cooperative. They were very quick to relocate our seats inside the restaurant as there was an unexpected rain. The live band was awesome. Wishing them all the best !!!

Mahmoud. Big guy was RUDE!
Our group had a reservation. We were a big group.
Others were already there.
But we came late (2 of us) and another staff told us that we can take the other table (good for 2) we were seated already. But then this Mahmoud came and like shooed us away.
It was fine to ask us if we can move to another table or apologize that the table where we were seated was reserved already.
Verbatim: Mahmoud: “You have reservation?! No you cannot because this is reserved already. You cannot sit here.”
EXTREMELY RUDE!
It could have been said nicely.

Basilico Saturday brunch is lavish and offers good quality of food and ingredients. The fish stand has locally sourced fish, while the meat stands provide the best quality cuts of beef. The selection of cheeses is good and of higher quality. The sushi counter is ok would prefer the rice less sweet. The bread counter has the freshest you can get. The raw bar had also every option you can think of. I loved the pasta station where the chef executed some good pasta with clams. The desserts have room for improvement, although the selection is vast, they mostly taste the same. Oh and the live music was very very nice. Overall would come back.

We have lunch and dinner in Basilico. The food is very tasty and delicious and fresh. The staff is very nice and welcoming. We tried steak, pasta, pizza and sweets. Every Saturday they have a seafood brunch with nice music band. Highly recommended.

The food was really great and the place was nice. We were immediately welcomed with free drinks and some bread. We ordered pizza and pasta and both tasted authentic.
Only issue we had was that you can’t be wearing shorts. It was an issue because one, it’s inside a beach resort so you can kinda expect people on shorts be coming and two, while we were stopped because we came on our shorts and advised to changed (which we obliged to), after coming in, we noticed a family dining in where all of them were wearing shorts. Staff did explain that they weren’t able to see and stop them when they got in (not sure if that’s an acceptable excuse). Anyway, we just brushed it off since we didn’t want to ruin our lunch to some petty argument and they were really apologetic and nice anyway. All in all, really good food with nice view. Definitely recommend.
