I can truly say this was the highlight of our first trip to NYC! This is the perfect romantic spot to dine before seeing a show. The ambiance, decor, and service were impeccable. The food was the best we had on the trip. But by far, our favorite thing was meeting Eduardo and hearing the story of how he came to Barbetta. He was an absolute delight, and we are so grateful for the hospitality and stories he shared with us! Don’t hestitate to dine here. You won’t be disappointed!

A truly romantic evening at Barbetta in New York. The layout of the restaurant is beautiful and elegant, with a timeless atmosphere that makes you feel like you’ve stepped into another era of classic Italian dining. The space itself is charming and intimate, perfect for a special night out.

I especially enjoyed a lovely glass of Chianti, which paired perfectly with the risottos we tried — both rich, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. Every detail of the experience felt thoughtful and authentic.

If you’re looking for a romantic Italian restaurant in New York with character, history, and wonderful food, Barbetta is definitely worth visiting. A memorable dining experience.

Thank you providing me an unforgettable birthday last week! Our server was awesome on his service and give us a free small bd cake at the end, I really appreciated that. It is definitely a great place for birthday or private events although the food can be better. I still want to give a five star to the restaurant for the overall experience!

This restaurant is timeless and a rare find in the heart of NYC. It is elegant and charming. It felt like we went back in time (in the best of ways). The courtyard is stunning- feels like Europe. The quiet and peacefulness of the trees and fountain are a welcome break from the grind of NYC. Eduardo is the star of this restaurant- with his stories of the good ‘ole days , reciting Barbetta’s fascinating history and bringing back the charm of the service industry. We enjoyed the antipasto, the stuffed zucchini followed by risotto and steak Florentine (cooked to perfection). The chive mashed potatoes are to die for! We sipped our wine while we waited and enjoyed the courtyard ambiance on a perfect September night. The interior dining room is elegant and would recommend during colder months. Outstanding and attentive service.

I wish we got to meet Laura and wonder who is running this place without her there ! What is the next chapter for Barbetta without Laura and her parents? I guess only time will tell.

I had such a wonderful experience at Barbetta! Our server, Shahin, was amazing and made the night feel extra special. I loved all of our food. Everything was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The ambience was beautiful, with such a nice, relaxed vibe that made it easy to enjoy the evening. It’s also a really pretty spot for photos, which was a nice bonus. Overall, everything was perfect and I’d definitely recommend Barbetta for a great night out in Manhattan.

This restaurant is a rare find—timeless in atmosphere yet warm and inviting from the moment you walk in. It feels like stepping into a place where tradition meets quiet elegance. The menu isn’t overwhelming, but every option feels thoughtfully chosen, leaning into classic flavors with a refined touch.

I began with a baked onion stuffed with fontina cheese and caramelized onion—rich, savory, and deeply satisfying. It was the kind of starter that sets the tone for a memorable meal. The main course was a standout: delicate venison chops, perfectly cooked, served alongside a poached pear that added just the right amount of sweetness and contrast. The balance of flavors was extraordinary—earthy, gamey, subtly sweet.

Before the meal, I had a gin martini—nothing showy, just perfectly dry, clean, and expertly made. Sometimes simplicity is the highest form of sophistication, and this one nailed it.

To close, I was served a glass of dessert wine I hadn’t tried before. It was smooth and fragrant, with notes of ripe fruit and a gentle honeyed finish. It complemented the meal beautifully and left a lasting impression.

Service was attentive without being intrusive, and the ambiance encourages you to slow down and savor every bite. Highly recommended for those who appreciate classic cuisine done with heart and precision.

We made it yesterday before this place closes tomorrow & so glad we did! They made us a table upfront by the bar, complimentary coat check was nice, waiter & bartender were lovely. The prefix dinner menu was great. The filet mignon with potatoes & baked apple dessert were both impressive. This place will be missed.

This is an absolutely beautiful and classy restaurant — sitting in the garden transforms you to a different place, certainly does not feel like Manhattan!
The service was good but I felt there were not enough servers for the amount of tables there. The food was good but not excellent.
It was a group of 7 of us and we enjoyed the pre-theater menu (for $65, which is a great price) in which we picked an appetizer, a main course, and a dessert.
I had the Caprese salad, which was delicious and the Pacific bass (Chilean Sea Bass) with asparagus and jicama root, which was also delicious.
We also had the Ragu pasta (delicious) and vegetable soup (good) for appetizers.
For the main course, my friends got the Crab meat (very good), steak (good), beef dish (okay), and chicken (good).
Good selection of wine and some cocktails.
One of my girl friends also tried the non-alcoholic fruit juice (watermelon, honeydew, melon).
As for dessert, it was a good, albeit small, selection– the flan was excellent! The creme brulee was very good, the apricot tarte was good, and the baked peach was okay.

Our return trip was another exceptional experience. From the attentive staff and service to the quality of ingredients used and the well curated menu selection. Our group of 6 included a few people who grew up with their own Italian family recipes and they were delighted with the menu choices. From soups through to desserts, each dish was thoughtfully prepared and presented. The ambiance added to the enjoyment of this night out. Having visited in each season, spring, summer, winter and fall, you will find something charming and delicious whenever you go.
