High above the heart of Hollywood sits Bar Lis, the crown jewel of the The Hollywood Grande. This chic rooftop lounge captures the iconic spirit and style of the French Riviera and immerses patrons in a sophisticated mix of classic South of France culture and modern Southern California ease.

I stopped by after work to meet friends visiting from Korea. Because I wasn’t dressed up, the bouncer wouldn’t let me in and repeatedly asked if I had a reservation. I explained that my friends were already inside and that I was just going up to meet them, but he kept insisting he couldn’t find their names. Since when does a bar require reservations like a private club?
The waitress was also quite rude. I understand it’s the holiday season and they’re busy, but that doesn’t justify an unprofessional or entitled attitude. I chose not to report this to the manager since it’s the holiday week and I wanted everyone to enjoy a peaceful season, but the staff really need to be more professional and stop power tripping.

I love to highlight our server, Sean. This was our first visit and we were beyond impressed by his ability to make us feel welcome. Our group was very indecisive on what to order for drinks and you can tell he genuinely cared to explain help us make the best selection. Beyond that, he was extremely friendly and most of all, fun. We had not gone out to a bar in a long time and he definitely made it a fun experience. I’d definitely come back based solely on our interaction with him. The food was alright, nothing major to rave about but the drinks 10/10 – Mon Cheri was my absolute favorite.

We celebrated our one-year wedding anniversary at Bar Lis and had an unforgettable night! We sat in a cozy booth inside and enjoyed an incredible dinner — the tuna tartare, kale Caesar, chicken wings, seared trout, and hanger steak were all delicious. We tried a mix of cocktails including the Bang Bang, Le Rosé, Stella beer, and a Maker’s Old Fashioned — all crafted perfectly.
The highlight was the thoughtful surprise from the staff: a house-made cookie with vanilla ice cream, a candle, and two glasses of champagne to celebrate our anniversary. It was such a sweet and memorable gesture.
Around 10 PM, the vibe shifted into a lively lounge with a live DJ. The music, energy, and dancing were amazing — such a fun atmosphere with stunning views of Hollywood.
Highly recommend Bar Lis for a special night out. The staff is attentive, friendly, and made our evening truly special.

Just visited Bar Lis for the first time last night… they’ve been doing Tuesday Jazz Nights for almost 4 years. The talent oooozing out of each Musician who performs is quite the site to see. Gilles who puts on this event places so much love into everything he does. The way he greets guests, the way he honors each Artist who shares their talent, the way he has his eyes on multiple things all at the same time to ensure everyone enjoys their night is truly special and inspiring to witness. Highly recommend! I think if you have guests visiting from out of town on a Tuesday night, this is the perfect place to take them. Book a table and enjoy dinner, drinks and a beautiful show!

Experience completely varies by night, some nights have great crowds while in other nights you might have your phone pickpocketed. If you go on the right nights with the right people it can be a good time. It’s not that hard to get inside on a busy day especially with a promoter but don’t spend more than 100 getting in.

This is one of the coolest rooftop bars in LA! Such great vibes, excellent wine selection, gorgeous city views (great place for a sunset meal/drink) – they also have a really great Happy Hour menu!
Staff is great, valet parking, not bad pricing & the ambiance is on point. Definitely check this place out!

I went to their NYE event, paid $360 for two tickets. When we arrived, there was a mob of underaged highschoolers, swarming the venue. We attempted to get in line but quickly realized that the line (filled with 21+ adults), was not moving because the bouncer was letting all the underaged kids in. I have never seen anything like that. We tried to get through to the front of the entrance to talk to someone in charge but the hundreds of underaged highschoolers were pushing each other around, yelling and picking fights. We ended up leaving. The lack of management present that night was truly baffling.

I usually don’t write these as I don’t believe some yelp reviews are valid/necessary. I attended their New Year’s event a couple days ago. This place was filled with under age kids. A few people came up to me and mentioned they were still in high school. I understand there will always be a few of these in clubs. The ratio of underage kids was at least 50%. These children were acting their age and trying to start fights for no reason. I’ll be contacting the liquor commission with a formal complaint. This establishment’s owner/leadership should take a look at the video footage and immediately fire the bouncers who let these CHILDREN into a club that people paid $100+ plus to get into. I will never go back to Bar Lis and will continue to share this story.

I came in a Tuesday evening for their Jazz night. It was SO MUCH FUN!
Drinks are cute with floral decorations.
They offer tapas and it’s great.
I would come back again for the live music .

Let’s start with the positives..This bar is absolutely stunning and gorgeous. The ambience, music, sunset views, indoor/outdoor options, & younger crowd make this place a lovely choice for a fun night out with the girls. However, the service was horrible & I’m big on that, especially when you’re spending a pretty penny here.
The server was very slow to check on our table & not impressionable or friendly in any way. Unfortunately, we chose this place to celebrate a birthday but it didn’t feel right. The waiter would constantly walk past our table but she would not stop to see if we needed anything. We kept loosing our buzz and it was frustrating to sit there constantly waiting for her to come back. There was another customer walking around with their check trying to find his waiter so it wasn’t just us that was frustrated with the poor service.
Its definitely worth checking out though. If I were to go back, I’d just stop by the bar to order a drink, walk around and take a few pictures & then leave.
-FYI, call ahead of time if you’re mainly interested in the outdoor deck/pool because it was closed when we went.
