We came for sunset views and were not disappointed. Very nice view, either towards WTC or New Jersey.
The service unfortunately did not meet our expectations. We waited approx. 20 min to order drinks, while every other table was served. We finally went to the bar ourselves and ordered drinks. Staff seemed a bit stressed and did not offer any smiles on a rather calm Monday evening.

I went to Hugo Rooftop while in NYC for an conference and this spot was exactly what I had in mind to end the day in a high! The ambiance and atmosphere were amazing, the food and the drinks were on point! But the best of all the View of the Hudson was perfection! 5 stars for sure!!
I will definitely come back the next time I’m in NYC

One of the best rooftop bars in NYC. Excellent views of the sunset, fantastic cocktail program, and amazing, friendly staff. A must visit when in NYC!

I chose Bar Hugo for 4th of July fireworks viewing and ended up being quite happy with my choice. Th calamari was tasty in spite of a short wait which was communicated well with the reason for delay. The staff explained the direction of fireworks but some of us were still confused, and that might be on us. We thought we would get a distant view of Macy’s fireworks on the east river because we hadn’t been there before. The display was another legal set of fireworks going off at 9:25 pm. Most of us were unaware of the time as well. The crowd was a mix of well behaved and rowdy. I enjoyed the show and the clean exit after. Pat on the back to me and Hugo!

I highly recommend you stop by this lovely rooftop for a sunset anytime you’re in New York! It is truly my favorite place to see the sunset here. It is above the rooftop restaurant. Craft cocktails and a fine wine list plus comfy seats. Go!

While it is lacking in terms of available space, food, and drinks, come here for it with amazing views. If you want a great rooftop bar that gives you an excellent view of the financial district as well as Jersey, this is it.

Several of us came here a few nights ago to enjoy a great view while the weather was nice in New York City. This is pretty far away from any close subway stations, but if you have the opportunity come here, I definitely would for the views alone.

Bar Hugo was an interesting experience. First and foremost their system for reservation is very tedious. You have to email the place and wait for a response then in your email response they tell you to respond in four hours (although I don’t think they stick to this). Then it wasn’t made clear that the rooftop does not do happy hour pricing so if you’re reserving under that assumption know that is not the case.

The side of the rooftop facing New York sadly has construction in the eye line which is somewhat of an eyesore. That being said staff was extremely polite and attentive. The drinks were okay (they don’t provide straws so some drinks were harder to drink-we were offered plastic sporks for frozen drinks). The food was delicious. We had sliders, calamari, hummus, artichoke spinach dip, fries, and steak tacos. They were very accommodating to my friend with dairy restrictions. The sliders were delicious.

If you manage to catch the sunset you will be lucky! It was extremely gorgeous. Overall a decent experience but they def need to be clearer about the bar/rooftop and happy hour. My favorite things were the sliders and the spicy fries!

Really nice bar with a great roof top view. Prices are also very fair. It’s a really cool place to take out someone.

If you want stunning views and a relaxed atmosphere, go to Bar Hugo’s rooftop. We had street corn, tacos, and Empanadas that had beef, olives, and raisins in it! We thought it sounded horrifying but it was actually really good.

Sitting atop the Hotel Hugo, the Bar Hugo (one floor underneath the true rooftop, Azul) may be a little out of the way, but it’s a good spot for a drink, and boasts some pretty great views of Hudson River, Freedom Tower, and even the Statue of Liberty. And on the east side, some of the more iconic skyscrapers. It feels a little posh and the crowd may reflect that, but the music is just loud enough to feel without making conversation hard, and the menu is a little pricey but good. If you’re looking for something less formal, head up one more floor for a less posh feel at Azul.
