I had such a great time, the vibes were perfect for a chill out afternoon. I’m a yuntie, so the music was the right combo of grown & sexy without being too much. Now let’s talk about the food! The lamb chops were absolutely delicious and mouth-watering. The broccoli was fresh and seasoned just right. And don’t get me started on the crab dip so good I had to take the rest home for a perfect midnight snack!

The vibe at Bar 9 was upbeat , definitely a must for an after work drink or bite to eat. Our server, Kia, was amazing! She took the time to make thoughtful recommendations, and everything she suggested was spot on. The crab and spinach dip was creamy and packed with flavor. Highly recommend the catfish basket with fries. The fish was cooked perfectly and seasoned just right. If you’re looking for a spot to unwind after work or for a chill date night, Bar 9 is it!

I give the overall experience a 3.8/10. Food and music is the only reason the rating is high because the service and atmosphere was poor.
We seated ourselves, took 5 minutes for someone to come over, the hostess tried to take the happy hour menu from us although happy hour would’ve been starting within 20 minutes. I felt like everything was rushed other than the food, rushing to take our orders, rushing to bring the checks, rushing for us to pay.. meanwhile it’s 3-7 staff members lounging and staring a whole in your face at the bar. Have to keep asking for items the waiter didn’t remember to bring. Seems like the staff started actually working once the demographic switched to non-POC and after 4pm when the dinner crowd started coming in. For us to be one of the only tables on a Friday afternoon, with high prices and trash service.. definitely won’t be back.

Me and my bf love this place the owner is amazing she pays attention and actually cares about her guest the staff are so sweet never have any problems the food oh my don’t get me started !! Perfection ! They recently got new security and he was great too! We felt more comfortable if you are looking for a good nice chill vibe or just want to grab a plate come check this out you won’t regret it

New in Portsmouth WILL NOT DISAPPOINT! The place is beautiful with a gold bar in the center and a beautiful restroom (ladies, full length mirrors). I ordered for drink lemon berry buzz and strawberry margarita 10/10, for food seafood basket which includes fish,shrimp,crab-cake, scallops and French fries 10/10 delicious fried perfect seasoned perfect also a Cajun creole pasta that comes with delicious grilled chicken breast, sautéed peppers and I added crabmeat for 12$ which isn’t bad considering the portion 9/10 only because it was a tad oily also added a side of collard greens 10/10. Will be back they offer communal seating as well easy parking and brunch

Got a seat fast but the Service inadequate ordered a salmon sandwich got it in less than 10 and ordered a chicken wrap and it took over 30 minutes for the food to arrive. I also ordered a shot which never came. The food is definitely not worth the over pricing. The seats at the table look nice but are not comfortable to sit on for an extended period of time

First time visiting.. we were told this place had just opened and a little pricey but a good date night. We waited for the hoopla to die down and went on a rainy evening. It was packed. The music was loud and the crowd was what appeared to be early 20s to mid 30s… the music made sense for the crowd. Once we stepped in and waited a few seconds and male server greeted us. “Yall want a table?” We said nah we’ll just sit at the bar… befote checking that there were seats he turned and walked away so fast!! There weren’t 2 seats together initially but a patron moved down one so we could sit because there was left over food in yhe other spot. The bar had not been wiped down and when asked the bartender (not sure of her name but she was Caucasian with brown hair and long decorated nails) to wipe it off she seemed very annoyed. This was her demeanor the rest of our time there. A nice older African American lady jumped in and was very accommodating. Im short and she noticed me struggling to get in the chair lol “Let me help you”.. “can I get you..” I appreciated her service! The restaurant is decorated beautifully the ambiance would be better for me if the music were lower and more of an r&b vibe but it was a Saturday night. The food took a very long time to come out.. I order the buffalo chicken wrap and him the crab spinach dip. He ordered 10mins before me and my food came out before his. The fried were a bit cold but the wrap was decent. The star of the show was the dip however I didnt know it was supposed to have spinach in it lol it was very crab forward but the flavor was really good with some spice. The drinks were decent as well.im sure we’d go back again.. maybe during the week.

Last night at Bar9 was everything and more! From the moment we walked in, the vibes were out of this world. The food? Insane. I had the catfish, mac n cheese, and collard greens — it tasted like it came straight out of Big Momma’s kitchen. Real comfort food, cooked to perfection.
The drinks were strong and delicious definitely made with love. I’ve seen some people complain about prices, but honestly, you get what you pay for, and everything was worth every single dollar.
Our waiter was the absolute sweetest, super attentive and made us feel right at home. The DJ was on point all night it was 80s and 90s night and they did not miss! The music had us dancing for hours. What started as a quick bite turned into a whole night out. Me and my 6 girlfriends had the best time not one complaint from anyone.
And here’s the cherry on top: the owner literally came out and bought everyone shots. Like, how often do you see that these days?! It really showed how much they care about creating a fun, welcoming experience for their guests.
Also, can we talk about how clean and cute the bathrooms are? Decorated like you’re in someone’s house — love that touch!
