I recently visited the BAPS Shayona Cafe and was initially very impressed. The location itself is beautiful and a lovely place to be. Unfortunately, my positive feelings were completely ruined when I got home.
I had purchased a snack called “Chatachat.” As I was eating it, I found a medium-thick hair tangled in the snack. The thought of where that hair could have come from is absolutely disgusting and it makes me question the sanitation practices in the kitchen.
This is an unacceptable mistake and a major health code violation. Please be aware of this possibility if you choose to eat or purchase food from here.

This is a self served eatery operated by the BAPS temple. We visited it on Memorial Day for lunch and the place was pretty crowded. The food here was mostly different than the dishes from your local Indian restaurants. Most items were unrecognizable to me (due to my own lack of knowledge). The Punjabi samosas were pretty good. All dishes were vegetarian (I believe) and spicy. Once paid, we ate at its outdoor dinning area with a nice cool California breeze.

We have been regular visitors of this cafe but the constant money minded expansion of this cafe has deteriorated the quality and ingredients quality over the time. Which directly reflects in taste and also after effects in the stomach.

They started using more and more plastic for packing all Hot Food

They started putting more and more sugar in all sweets.

Using palm and canola oils in all snack items.

I hope they realise and correct this soon and start thinking for people’ s health, not just their bank balance.

Great store to shop for a wide variety of Indian snacks. It’s all vegetarian store. They have all kinds of sweets like kaju katri, peda, pak, and many others made of milk, nuts, sugar and jaggery. They have savory snacks that are usually consumed during festivals or even during fast. They also have a cafe serving fresh food like samosa, dabeli, poori and sabji, dosa, thali and much more. Definitely visit this when you visit the temple which is a wonder of its own kind!

Went on a weekday and was disappointed with the limited menu, still gave a try to thali and chole bhature.
Neither of the item tasted good.
Below average food but the only good part it the money goes to the temple.
So, won’t say wasted money there but nothing good about that taste.

I recently visited this place. Area is beautiful with pleasant views. My family were excited to try the food as well but when they tasted jelebi it was literally sour in taste. Jelebi is expected to be fresh and sweet but here it is no. So I would not recommend anyone here for food.

Very good quality of food, fresh and delicious. Next to the temple visitors centre. Available Indian snacks and dine in food items. Excellent Thali available sometimes, which is a must try.

Good vegetarian food and deserts. All kinds of Indian snacks are available here. Loved their authentic vegetarian thali which is pretty simple yet very tasty. Decent number of tables are available to eat food after Darshan. Indian sweets and yummy deserts like Shri Kand are available here. The menu is however very limited though.

First, I love Indian cuisine. When I was transitioning from meat eating diet to non meat eating diet, Indian vegetarian food helped me a lot with the savory craving.

My first experience with vegetarian Indian food was in Vallejo, CA. Vaishnu vegetarian Cafe. ❤️❤️ It is closed now. Maybe the owner is too old to manage. Sad. Everyone in my family loved that place! So my Indian vegetarian experience ever since will always be biasedly compared to the taste I acquired from that place.

Hahaha. Ok.

BAPS Shayona Cafe is not that bad. It has a lot of Indian food and desserts. Having learned how to make many of them myself (Vaishnu inspired), I bought a few and didn’t really enjoy them much. There are A lot of deep fried foods.

The roasted poha is good, but is a little bit spicy.

I’ve been here a few occasions and always wanted to try the thaali ($10, 5 items meal). The picture looks good. Apparently, it is only offered Thursday through Sunday, according to the staff. It can be busy on weekends, so get ready for long lines.

For the thaali:

Big portion of plain basmati rice, good old rice without cumin.

A piece of Kopra paak (I don’t like this one because the coconut is dry. I bought a whole container once, and it has a weird fat smell. I don’t know what it is),

sambar, medium thin consistency and has a hint of either tofu or coconut milk resembling Vietnamese vegetarian Curry soup. It is on a sweeter side to me. Has a piece of curry leaf floating.

three roti, kind of transparent. I don’t like them.

and the main dish. It is like veggie korma without the yogurt. It has paneer cubes, beans, peas, bell peppers. It’s not bad.

I would recommend to check the cafe out.

And they accept credit cards! ☺️
