The banh mi here was absolutely delicious — definitely the best one I’ve had during my trip. I highly recommend sharing the large size between two people because it’s quite generous.

The line was long, but they provide umbrellas while you wait under the sun, which is a very thoughtful touch. It’s a great spot to grab an amazing meal. If there are no seats available, there are cafés nearby that will let you bring your sandwich and eat more comfortably — there’s even a red café right across the street that works perfectly for this.

Overall, the food is incredible and totally worth the wait.

One of the most famous bánh mì spots in Ho Chi Minh City, so I had to try it. When I arrived, the line was long, but it actually moved fast and was very organized. The staff worked quickly, so the wait wasn’t as bad as it looked.
The bánh mì is packed with a lot of fillings — different cold cuts, pâté, pickled vegetables, herbs, and sauce inside a crispy baguette. It’s a good example of how Vietnamese bánh mì combines French influence (the bread and pâté) with local flavors and ingredients. The portion is big and very filling.
Overall, worth the wait if you want to try one of the most well-known bánh mì places in Saigon. Come hungry because it’s not a small sandwich.

I have had the pleasure of visiting many establishments, but the service I received here was truly exemplary. The hospitality strikes that perfect balance of professional excellence and genuine warmth, making the entire experience feel special.
The quality of the Banh Mi is exceptional—fresh, authentic, and prepared with a level of care that is “spot on.” We decided to share a single roll between two adults, and the portion size was incredibly generous, providing more than enough to satisfy both of us. It is rare to find such a high standard of flavor paired with such impressive volume and a professional touch.
Logistically, the experience was seamless, and the staff remained attentive and efficient throughout. I cannot recommend this place highly enough for anyone seeking a premium and authentic meal delivered with a professional approach. It is a credit to the local dining scene, and I look forward to my next visit.

There are two separate stalls – one serves takeaway delivery and one is for actual customers. The stall that serves customers has one queue for ordering and a second queue for collection. The process is relatively fast. Payment is via cash and they don’t accept any credit card payments.

The portion of the Banh mi is huge and it’s easily 50% larger than what I usually find. The Banh mi is tasty and the portion amount of pate is very generous.

I ordered a fresh Banh mi and one vacuum packed one for me to bring home (Singapore). The vacuum packed item was frozen and they packed it in a styrofoam box. Box is pretty big but it’s light.

Possibly the most over rated and disappointing experience in HCM. With so much expect from this famous banh mi hot spot. My sister and been here numerous times last year and she told me “best ever for taste and size”. Well in 6 months a lot been change, for 78k I thought it would be much bigger then those in Perth.

First it was slightly smaller than late last year. Second was they drowned it with pate, just one bite and 0-pate dripped everywhere, making the bread a bit soggy.

Personally other banh mi around HCM at 20k each make it better option and dare I say better taste.

There are seats available at the shop, which makes it convenient to eat there. Bottled water is affordable at only 4,000 VND. The banh mi costs 73,000 VND and is very filling with rich flavors. If you don’t like fried shallots, remember to ask the staff not to add them. However, the security staff didn’t seem very friendly, which slightly affected the overall experience. Still, it’s a well-known spot worth trying in Saigon

Bánh Mì Huỳnh Hoa is one of the most famous spots in Saigon for traditional Vietnamese sandwiches, and after hearing so much about it, I decided to give it a try. The place is definitely popular — there’s always a crowd in front of the store, and finding the right counter can be confusing at first. In fact, there are two shops with the same name, right next to each other, separated by a small juice bar. At first, I wasn’t sure if they were the same business or competing ones, but from what I could tell, both belong to the same owners and sell the same sandwiches.
When I finally got my bánh mì, I was expecting something truly exceptional after all the hype, but honestly, I found it a bit underwhelming. The pâté was excellent — rich, flavorful, and clearly homemade, probably the best part of the sandwich. However, the rest of the ingredients didn’t impress me much. The meat was cold, and while it was tender, it lacked that punch of flavor that I’ve found in other bánh mì shops around Vietnam. The bread was also cold, which made a big difference. Personally, I much prefer when the baguette is warm and slightly crispy, as it really enhances the texture and taste.
I’ve had bánh mì in places like Huế and Hội An, and there the sandwiches felt much more balanced — the bread was warm, the meat freshly cooked, and the flavors blended perfectly. At Huỳnh Hoa, I felt like everything was pre-prepared and served straight from the fridge, which took away from the experience. For such a famous place, I expected more depth of flavor and better attention to presentation.
Another small but annoying detail was that I asked them to cut my sandwich in half, and they completely ignored the request. The staff were quite busy, and while they weren’t rude, they didn’t really pay attention to small customer requests either.
Also, keep in mind that this place is strictly takeaway only. There’s no seating area, just a counter facing the street. So if you’re hoping to sit down and enjoy your bánh mì calmly, that’s not possible here. What we did instead was go to the juice shop next door, order a drink for about 45,000 VND, and sit there while eating our sandwiches. That made the experience much more comfortable.
Overall, I would say Bánh Mì Huỳnh Hoa is worth trying if you’re curious about one of Saigon’s most famous bánh mì spots, but don’t expect the best sandwich of your life. The pâté is genuinely delicious, but the cold bread and meat make it less enjoyable. Between the crowd, the confusion with the two shops, and the lack of seating, it didn’t quite live up to its reputation for me.
A solid 3-star experience — good, but far from the unforgettable bánh mì I was hoping for.

A very big and loaded banh mi full of meat. The taste was decent, the pate was good, but nothing special compared to other banh mi’s I tried across Vietnam. The line was big but moved quickly. The thing that stood out to me the most was the enormous amount of plastic they used for their vegetables. Other banh mi places stall everything in steel containers, where in this place everything is pre-packed in plastic. Definitely an improvement can be made here.

Some indicated that they got food poisoned here, so visit at your own discretion. I find the Banh Mi here tasty, filled with meat and extra produces to the top. The bun was crunchy and enough for an adult. The ordering is very simple, you tell them how many, pay, then wait for your turn to pick up. There’s no place to sit and the neighbour will happily solicit your business so also watch out for that.

Just like other reviews say, this Banh Mi is huge. I can finish one myself, but it’s easy to share between two people.

It’s not the cheapest, but definitely worth it for what you get. There’s usually a queue, but it moves quickly.

I always grab a Banh Mi Huynh Hoa whenever I’m in HCMC(most recently last month). Is it the best? I’d say it’s a great starter Banh Mi, especially for first timers or sharing. I recommend trying this and then a more local-sized Banh Mi for comparison.

Tip: spread the vegetables evenly (they come separately) and the flavours really come alive.

Overall, a must try.
