The owner was very polite, he gave us yogurt with both the plate!
The only reason for a decreased star is the puri was soaking oil (last pic attached), it can be improved by just putting it on a tissue before directly serving it!
The halwa puri had very little halwa – see the attached picture (I was expecting it a little more!) but the Chana was great! Not sure why but they don’t accept credit card! Which can prevent a few customers from visiting as many people just have their credit card on Apple Pay or mobile payment methods!
The taste of the food is authentic! So a must try if you wish to enjoy home cooked food taste! I will Come back again to try their samosas and sweets!
Pro Tip: Phone your orders in for an even better deal.
The packing can be little better as most of the gravy for Biye bari chicken roast was in the bag and it was on the all box of Polau and rice and others.
Went there today for the first time in a few years and I couldn’t have been more disappointed. I guess the management must have changed since I was last there.
When I walked in, the lights were off. The person who I assume is the owner walked out, with un unimpressed face, asked what I want. I asked for an assortment of sweets for 2 people.
He proceeded to pack a large box full of (mostly) the cheaper items, until there were over 3 lb, then wanted to charge me at the most expensive item price by weight. To add insult to injury, another customer walked in who I assume knew the owner, and they stopped serving us to take their order, finishing off one of the items I wanted to try. I asked if he could leave one for me, and he said no, and when he saw the look in my face, said it’ll just take 5 mins to make more. He then made us wait 45 (!!) mins!
After such a long wait I asked him to reduce the 3 lbs to 2, as it’s way too much for just 2 of us, and he reluctantly started removing all the nicer more expensive items from the box, first down to 2.6, (asked if that was ok) then 2.25 (asked again). I was firm on 2, and when all was said and done, I was left with over 50% by volume of the 2 cheapest types of sweets. At that point I just wanted to leave, and didn’t feel like arguing further.
Worse yet, the sweets themselves don’t hold a candle to how good they used to be.
I will not be returning. Guess I’ll give Holy Spice off of Kenaston a try next time. What a shame.
Note: picture is after eating a disappointing yellow ball.
Of 10+ deserts on display our “assortment” included 6 kinds.
Edit: I tried the rest of the sweets. They were better than the abundant yellow balls, but still nowhere near as good as they used to be.
My original 5 star review was over a year ago. I have since been to this restaurant many times. My last visit was yesterday and I am happy to say that my 5 star review remains.
The owner helped me pick the right sweets, made some suggestions that I hadn’t tried before and I’m glad I listened to him as all the sweets were delicious ! He even gave me a couple of Freshly made Jalebis free of cost as I was leaving ! I’m one happy customer indeed
(My original review)
My new favorite spot for Halal food (The owner confirmed that all their meats are halal and they get it from much a known halal grocery shop). Not a dull dish in sight, everything I tried was bursting with aroma and flavor. On this visit I tried the Chicken Biryani, Chicken Seekh Kabab and Cheese Naan. Both dishes were outstanding. The Biryani was just perfect (the real deal and not the white Pulao rice that some other places sell as Biryani) and the Kebab was drenched in some delicious creamy garlicky sauce that made it a joy to eat with those soft cheese naan bread .
I cannot wait to return and try some others items now
