First time try this restaurant. Welcome greeting by a nice staff, good impression at first place.
After ordering, my dish served in a reasonable time even the restaurant is packed. Smell nice and fresh. Take a first bite, so delicious and it is fresh cook.
Very enjoyable dinner (better eat with your fingers to enjoy it)

Bananaleaf is a regular spot for me. Rom and the staff are lovely and always great me with a warm smile. The food is delicious. The poori with masala, the deviled dishes, and the kothu are super delicious. If you’re in Cambridge and looking for authentic Sri Lankan or South Indian Tamil cuisine, this is your place!

It was my first time and it was amazing. I ordered biryani and curry paratha. The waiter was amazing and very nice. It was busy since its the weekend so better book in advance

Had dinner here with a group of friends. It took them 45min to get out order after we sat down. We didn’t get our mains until 45+ min after that. At the end, we wanted to split the bill and were told that they’d only accept up to 4 card payments (we were a group of 12 people). This information is not present on the website/menu/or anywhere else at the restaurant. Although the food was good, service was clearly very poor. Definitely don’t recommend.

We came here curious to try this place and ended up very glad we did. It’s definitely going to be a regular place going forward. The food was excellent, we liked every dish that we ordered and the service was great. We did a walk-in at 7 and by 7:30 it was practically full so probably a good idea to book as it’s definitely a hit with the locals. For our starters we had Medu vada with rasam and chilli fried idlis both were very tasty. For the mains we had an authentic crispy masala dosa with a nice selection of chutney and sauces. Devilled kingfish which was amazing as I haven’t seen kingfish on menus anywhere!. We had the curd rice as a side and for dessert we had the milk pudding and orange coloured dessert. The bill was very affordable too so we are pleased with this place and will definitely be coming back.

Authentic Indian cuisine. Warning: even the mild curries are very spicy.
Mango Lassie is the best I’ve ever had and the dishes were as good as Aunty Brenda. I’ve been eating Indian since I married a girl from Kolkata 35years ago – called Calcutta back then.

We visited this on a Saturday for lunch. The ambience was not so great and there was constant disturbance due to dish washing. This made the experience even more unpleasant.
We ate chilli idly, masala dosa and poori. Chilli idly was basically tomato ketchup plus idly and very bad. The other too very also pretty average

Every time I visit Bananaleaf is like a journey to India. I don’t know if as authentic as I think but it is my favourite restaurant in the UK so far
I am a sushi person but the food here is so homemade. Every time I feel I am in a mammy’s kitchen and I have the best food and service.

Interesting, exciting food, and plenty of it! The menu is Sri Lankan, the traditional curries are all there but the parrota specials are really something.
