We are incredibly grateful to Baker’s Sweets for sponsoring our Induction Teacher meeting. Our first-year teachers absolutely loved the delicious cupcakes at our December session. They made the day feel extra special.

Thank you, Baker’s Sweets, for supporting our public school teachers and for always bringing such high-quality treats to our community. We truly appreciate your generosity!

I went into Baker’s Sweets on 27 Dec 2025 to order a dozen peanut butter cupcakes for my wife’s birthday on 31 Dec 2025. I go to pick them up on Dec 31st to discover the employee got the order wrong; they were trying to give me a dozen butter cupcakes. They told me to come back in an hour because they would have to make some, but they called me back in about 5 minutes saying my order was ready. I picked up the cupcakes for a get together later that evening. My wife, son, and I went to eat them only to find out they tasted stale; my wife tapped the side of the cupcake and you could hear how hard it was. They should have been fresh and soft. We told our guests not to eat them and instead ate a cake someone bought at Walmart that was much better than the cupcakes. Unfortunately, the cupcakes are inedible and we are going to have to throw the rest out. “DO NOT” order from them for any important event; you’ll be greatly disappointed.

I order a carrot cake for my birthday and before I place my money in her hand, I ask Ashley will raisins be in the carrot cake and she wasn’t sure but she got on the walkie-talkie and ask someone was raisins in the carrot cake and she say yes not once but twice. I went to pick up the cake and cut the cake several times and there was no raisins in the cake. This was so disappointing. If you can lie about this what else are you willing to lie about. I will absolutely not be going back. Now I know what this bakery is good at, ruining my birthday.

We tried two different pies here, and both were a huge disappointment.

They tasted like they’d been frozen for weeks completely lacking flavor and freshness. If they weren’t old then they were 100% just frozen from the start. The crusts were dry, and the fillings were bland, with none of the homemade quality you’d hope for from a bakery. Unfortunately, we won’t be back.

A true feast with home cooked, beautifully prepared food. Generous portions, pies out of this word. If you’re not “stuffed” when you leave, you did something wrong.

We stopped in for brunch and were pleasantly surprised by the quaint, quiet café vibe. At the entrance, there is a bakery and bistro offering a wide array of sweets and espresso/coffee items, while the back features café-style seating

We were seated quickly and offered beverages as soon as we sat down. While waiting for our food, our host checked on us a few times to refill our drinks, despite a slight delay with our order

I ordered a Turkey Club that had a reasonable amount of meat and plenty of toppings, making the sandwich very filling

The family chose the Chicken Salad sandwich with a fresh fruit cup, the Patty Melt with fries, and the Grilled Tuscan Chicken wrap with chips. All the plates had a deli-style presentation, offering a fresh twist on traditional meals

Overall, for a local mom-and-pop café, the brunch food was reasonable. I’ll need to return for breakfast to assess the full lineup

Exceeded expectations. I recently had the pleasure of dining at here during my visit to South Carolina. Beautiful interior, incredible food, and impeccable service.

I opted for the hand-breaded chicken bites, and they were absolutely divine. Each bite was crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside, and bursting with flavor. Our waitress was attentive & sweet, going above and beyond to ensure our dining experience was flawless. She anticipated our needs before we would even voice them, promptly replacing my water as soon as it was low.

While I love the cake and treats here, I find them to be very weird when it comes to service. I’ve always bought their gift cards for my child’s teachers; we dine here occasionally, and my daughter loves it. I come here only because of her. The dining area is usually majority white folks, and the last time I was here, I felt like they were seating white folks who came in after me before I got seated. I didn’t say anything, because I wasn’t sure if these people had a reservation. I waited at least 30 minutes to be seated. We ate. My daughter was satisfied, so I was satisfied. We were celebrating my daughter’s birthday and her request was to have breakfast at Baker’s Sweets, Alice Drive. We arrived. I approached the young lady at the hostess stand, we greeted each other and I told her there were 3 of us to dine. She asked us to wait. We sat and we waited.
A couple came in after us they were seated immediately…I must say I was surprised that we were even asked to wait, as the restaurant was looking quite scanty with lots of empty tables. We waited patiently, and we watched another couple walk in and were immediately seated. So at this point, I’m here wondering if my money wasn’t good enough for this place. The first time this happened I gave them the benefit of the doubt that the people who got seated before us had a reservation…now I’m not sure what it is, but I was extremely offended that they overlooked me and my daughter on yet another visit. “Once bitten twice shy” I will never ever spend my money here again and I would advise all PEOPLE of COLOR to not ignore any signs of discrimination from this restaurant. If it feels like discrimination it probably is. I spoke with the head chef and they seemed nice and was willing to seat me immediately, but based on how I felt, I didn’t even want them to handle the food I was about to eat. We left. Sad place to be in 2025. We went to Eggs Up Grill and we had the sweetest friendliest service and way better food. Bigger space too, with nice covered outdoor seating.

Absolute gem in Sumter. Was there on business and this became my go-to spot. Clean, friendly and LOTS to offer when it comes to breakfast, lunch and desserts. Highly recommend the Lox and Bagel, Turkey and Cheddar croissant and the blueberry muffin (to die for). The service was great and prices are fair. Quality is really notable as well!

I like this place but it’s pricey. The food is decent but sometimes the service is meh. Their baked goods are delicious but the cakes are super dense… Not a bad thing just sayin’. I really do like baker sweets but like most “Sumter hot spots”, it feels overpriced.
