I enjoy coming here for many reasons. They have sprouts! Their bagle with Hummus, sprouts & tomato is delicious, they remember my order & name when I walk in (who doesn’t enjoy feeling special), all the employees are just great. Customer service reigns supreme here. Add great food. Equals = happy customer….me.

Ive been coming to this location since the early 90’s. Always order the same bagel. Onion not toasted with cream cheese/guacamole. Love the cookies! Bagels are on the firmer side but thats why I love them.

The customer service at Seabright has been cold, not friendly and makes me feel unwelcome. Its sad, because I love the bagels. This is from my own experience. I do notice the change in behavior towards the customers before and after me. They recieved a smile and a pleasant experience. I dont know why I tipped. Hope the tip goes to the person that made the bagel not the older mannat the register. The staff is much more welcoming and friendly at the downtown location.

The place smells great when you walk in, the smell of baking bread, sweet malt, and onion bagel topping that fell on the bottom of the oven. The mark of a great bagel shop is the quality of smoked salmon that they use on their bagel and lox. The Bagelry didn’t disappoint. Generous portion, nice smoked flavor with all of the usual accoutrement. I wish I lived closer, I’d be there all the time.

Eh.

It is what it is.

The bagels are pretty good. Good variety.

I’ve been eating here for decades and weirdly, they have NEVER had friendly staff here. No matter when you go in the past 20+ years, the person behind the counter will always seem mildly annoyed and somewhat surprised that you’re asking for their help. It’s obviously not a priority for them to make eye contact or say hello, even if it’s not busy.

Also, no matter how dead the place is, no one EVER cleans the tables here so of course they are ALWAYS FILTHY. 9 empty tables covered in bagel crumbs and chai, NO ONE in the restaurant, and 6 staff people gossiping behind the counter. I mean hey I know it’s not a gourmet restaurant, but no one can EVER grab a towel and just take 3 minutes to wipe these off every couple hours? Apparently not.

I mean, it’s a Santa Cruz institution and obviously they know that they don’t have to try very hard, and that’s reflected in the staff and environment. But for a quick bagel and chai, you don’t necessarily except French Laundry style ambience.

One of the very few eateries nearly completely untouched by the passage of time for decades now on the East Side. They do one thing and they do it to perfection – serve up a variety of delicious, fresh bagels and toppings. The basic setting and limited menu may at first discourage some visitors looking for more elaborate choices, but everything they sell has been vetted by countless thousands of happy customers. I honestly think they stand alongside some of the most renowned bagel spots in NYC , Montreal and beyond, so it would be a crime not to stop in when you can 🙂

Humas had way to much garlic in it. And for two bagels and small coffee and pay $20 really. Been better off getting bagels at the store and going home and making my own.

Incredible fresh bagels made the traditional way. Many white flour and whole grain choices. Spreads and topping are homemade and delicious. The hummus is the best ever. Oh, and tasty soups are made daily. Their other locations are in Soquel and downtown Santa Cruz. You’ll never want to eat a puffy “bagel”-with-cream-cheese again!
