The atmosphere was great, canoe upside down hanging from the ceiling, service was incredible and it’s near the water. However- being in the winter and it was dark we couldn’t see, but I know that this is a fabulous location. The food came quick, the drinks were wonderful, and do not sleep on the sweet potato fries as a side to any of your entree options. I’ve never ever tried any sweet potato fries that came out as crispy and flavorful as those and they were not greasy! Definitely recommended and would go back. Too bad the travel time from CT is so long!

Came here on a Sunday evening and this place was hoping at 5pm. Definitely make a reservation. Their menu is diverse and delicious. I stayed boring and got their burger but it was perfect! We were a large party, 13 all together but they still got our food out to us fairly quickly. They had baby high chairs. Lovely view of the water. It can be pretty loud when it’s busy but there was either no music or it was low so that was nice you didn’t have to compete with the voices as well!

Wowie this place rocks! My husband and I ate dinner here 4 nights ago & haven’t stopped talking about it. The view from the deck is so nice, & the interior of the restaurant is GORGEOUS too. The “sandy bucket” dessert was the highlight of our meal; it’s so fun, creative, & delicious! Do your family a favor by ordering it. My husband’s crabby patty was delicious and my boathouse BBC ( garlic parmesan pasta with bacon and chicken) was wonderful as well. The only knock would be that it seems like our waiter forgot about us when we were waiting to pay around closing time, but thankfully an off-duty waitress noticed and told him to come to us.

We had a wonderful experience here!! The staff is SO nice! They are so welcoming big thanks to them. Drinks were great. I started with a dirty martini. We got buffalo dip and wings to start, and both were delicious. For the entree, we got short rib with gnocchi. Tasty but far too much gnocchi. Other folks in our party loved their meals, so explore and enjoy!

My family of 12 came in for dinner tonight. The filet was the best I have had in town and those sticky ribs I would order every time.
We had April as our server and she was excellent and patient with us.

We’ve been in the area for over 5 years and several locals spoke poorly about this place. We actually only went her because the recommended fish restaurant in Wolfeboro was closed on Mondays. Boy, we were so pleasantly surprised that everything was great, including the trout, my coconut rice dish, the nice draft IPAs, and the service by Christine. Also, the atmosphere was rustic & charming. Plus, the outdoor space is special. Moral of the story, don’t let others influence you.

Great experience! We made reservations for four and we requested a window seat. It was beautiful, very nice atmosphere! We sat outside the first time in the summer and for our second visit, we were just as pleased to be inside (for the winter).

I crave seafood a lot, and just recently while visiting Wolfeboro, the craving hit once again. I found Back Bay Boathouse, and it was a massive success! This is a really good restaurant that has great food, great service, and great atmosphere, and I will be sure to make this a staple place each and every time I come up here. When we visited, we got the New England clam chowder, some side salads (caesar and garden), backbay BLT, and lobster rolls! The salads were very nice, but the clam chowder was definitely the winners for starters – it tasted like an excellent classic clam chowder that would satisfy anyone.
The backbay BLT was great as well, and the lobster roll was exceptional! I always prefer cold lobster rolls rather than warm ones, and this had the perfect balance of greens, lobster, and mayo, and even though it wasn’t a “roll” per se (it was on burger buns), it was still excellent. The lobster was super fresh, not fishy-tasting at all, and it hit the spot. I have seen some reviews from other people criticizing Back Bay Boathouse for putting the roll on burger buns, but I think that’s ridiculous – it’s still bread, and if it tastes just like a lobster roll, who cares?! The taste is most important to me, and regarding taste, this restaurant nailed it. I love this place and will continue to come back in the future!
