It’s a roadside BBQ restaurant. The BBQ is AMAZING. You can see them making it when you pull off the highway. The staff and owner are very friendly. Dogs are welcome on the patio.

I hate to give a bad review but to tell our truth about our experience. We ordered 2 Samples,2 Combos which included ribs(very blackened and dry), chicken(very blackened and dry), brisket was decent, had pulled pork but didn’t eat it, cornbread was cold not warm, no butter, potato salad was grey- didn’t eat, cold slaw was the best thing, not too wet or sweet, fries were good and onion rings were good. Customer service was great, server was attentive and accommodating. It was our first time visiting and we drove from Atlantic City(passing up other bar-b-que restaurants). We wish them well but highly suggest not serving dry meat and make updates to the sauce(it was cold).

Nice outdoor patio where dogs are allowed, making it a logical place to try after the nearby Longport dog beach, so we did. Big meat smokers in front gave us confidence that the BBQ would be amazing. Unfortunately, it was instead disappointing. We ordered a sampler with four meats and also ordered 4 sides and 2 drinks, plus a burger for happy doggie. He gives the food a high rating, but for me it all tasted like lighter fluid or some other chemical. The brisket was not flavorful, tough and pinkish, maybe undercooked? No sauce, just the meat. The chicken and ribs also were not saucy or very flavorful. The chicken needed salt. The only tasty and soft meat was the pulled pork. If it didn’t have some of the chemical taste it would have been a winner. The mac and cheese, while cooked nicely, also had an off flavor and was very bland. The Cole slaw was tasty until I found a short dark kinky hair in it, ewww. Hubby really liked the potato salad best but for me it was bland also. The cornbread was so dry that when the waitress asked if everything was okay I mentioned it and asked how old it was. She didn’t answer but offered to bring butter so I did not try to critique the food further. I hope for their sake we just hit it on a bad day but we will not be back. I gave the waitress a low grade because we were thirsty and we had to ask for drinks several times, including after the food came.

I’ve eaten here a couple of times and each time was great. Wings, ribs, crab cakes, mac n cheese are 5/5. The whole roasted chicken is 4/5 as it leans more on the dry side but still pretty good.

It’s just not good. The food has been dry and overcooked each time I’ve gone and the service is just abysmal. If you happen to do take-out, make sure to check your order… McDonald’s drive through gets it correct more often than this place. Only thing this place has going for it is it’s “close” to the beach. I wish it was good, it just hasn’t been for a long time.

The food was very good, especially the baked beans. The chicken was dry. Calling ahead makes no sense as the order was not assembled until we arrived, despite having called 1/2 hour beforehand.

Back Bay Barbeque is a small, family owned barbeque business that offers homemade barbeque and sides is a cozy and welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff. This place is located right off Longpoint Somers Point Boulevard in Somers Point, New Jersey. They have a colorful backyard with outdoor seating and an air conditioned inside with plenty of room for big party’s playing country music that fits the bbq mood. The food was okay and drinks could have been better but a big thing that this place has going for them is that you can bring your own booze! They don’t have their liquor license here but that doesn’t let them stop you from drinking if you want to bring your own. I would recommend coming here but maybe stray away from a few things that I mention below.
