My husband ordered the pork schnitzel, and I ordered the fried prawns and polenta Benedict. I asked our server for recommendations, and she offered a few helpful options, which I appreciated. The presentation and overall quality of the food were very nice.
That said, while I love both polenta and prawns, the salsa on my dish was a bit overpowering and overwhelmed the flavors. The pork schnitzel had great flavor as well, but the pork was quite thick and felt a little out of proportion due to its size.
There is a nice variety of dishes on the menu, which makes it appealing to return. One small downside was that I had to ask several times for my coffee to be refilled, and the server didn’t come back on her own for refills, and her attentiveness dropped off after we were served our food, which was a little disappointing.
Overall, the ambiance was pleasant, parking was easy, and despite a few minor issues, we would recommend giving it a try. Prices were reasonable. They automatically add an 18% gratuity. We plan to come back and try some different dishes next time.
They have a quaint coffee bar and bar counter. The decor is chic farmhouse and cozy. The service was on point. Their cocktails are delicious! If you enjoy a good Bloody, these are your people! My husband ordered a smoked pineapple sour; delicious! Their scrambles and Benedict’s are on point. Even the ricotta pancake on the side was delicious.
There are so many more things we want to try on their menu. We’ll definitely be back!
Due to the amount of people that was there, I could hardly complain about that issue.
What was great:
– some of the best lattes and mochas I’ve had
– server was very nice and attentive at the start
– best home fries ever
– fast fix after bringing us the wrong plate
– more affordable than a lot of Portland spots
What was middle of the road:
– after ordering service was so inconsistent. No water refill, no checking in if we wanted anything else, different server so I didn’t know who to flag down
– they were out of the brisket and salmon Benedict which was what we had planned on ordering
All in all there were some wins that would make me want to try what I originally came for if I was out of lake Oswego
One friend ordered eggs over medium, which came out undercooked—closer to over easy. She has recently been sick from undercooked food and was understandably hesitant to eat it. We did mention it, and they offered to remake the eggs, but by that point we were already partway through the meal.
Both my order and another included bacon. The rest of the food was fine, and the portion sizes were good, but the bacon could have been cooked longer. Some of it was undercooked. We didn’t bring it up and let it go.
When the bill arrived, I was surprised to see an automatic 18% gratuity added. That one’s on me—they did have a placard on the table that I missed, and I believe you can adjust it—but still, it caught me off guard.
Nothing from the undercooked egg was comped. The atmosphere was mediocre—cute coffee-shop/café style, but nothing memorable. Overall, it’s not somewhere I’d recommend for food beyond coffee and a sticky bun.
