Went here for my boyfriend’s great aunts birthday celebration. My first time going here and I’d heard about their first location just gas t made my way to try it yet. They have a wide variety of soul food. However the flavors are mediocre that’s my opinion. Nothing I tried just screamed WOW in my mouth. I got the beef tips with rice and gravy and collard greens and yams. The beef tips were dry. Tender but really dry. The collard greens tasted like pure vinegar,no seasoning just vinegar. The yams tasted good, not out of this world but they were good. My boyfriend got the oxtails with rice and gravy with the same sides as I did. He took a few bites of rice and ate one oxtail and didn’t touch the plate anymore. We took it home and he took the yams out for our 11 month old daughter and tossed the rest I’m the trash. We love trying new places but decided that this spot just wasn’t for us.

Stopped in for a late lunch with my family after a trip to the zoo. I love soul food and it seemed like a cool spot so I was hoping for a great experience, but I was left pretty disappointed.

Regarding service, when we first walked in, it was a little confusing trying to figure out whether we should seed ourselves or order first, and absolutely nobody greeted us even though everybody turned to look at us as we walked in the room. The lady at the register was very nice, and helpful though.

While the food came out quickly, overall, this is where I had the biggest disappointment. My husband’s chicken and waffle was pretty tasty, and seemed worth it for the price. And the yams were good, not stellar, but good. However, my catfish fillets were small and overdone, and the kids meals were not satisfying. We got chicken and the mac and cheese bites for my son and he literally had six little popcorn chicken bites, and about five little fried mac and cheese bites. And that was all he got. A Kool-Aid for $10. Now the Kool-Aid was good, but still overall I felt like all of the food was very overpriced. There’s a limited selection of drinks, and when we did go up and buy some unsweet tea which we thought would have been brewed in house, it turned out to be pure leaf bottles that we were still charged $3 for and was not indicated on the menu.

I was still willing to think at this point that it’s fine. Maybe I misread the menu. Maybe I should have looked more closely before we picked it, but what’s sealed the deal for me that this is a place we will not go back to was how absolutely disgusting the restrooms were. And this is even more unfortunate because when we walked in there were at least three staff who were hanging out, which is fine, but if they had that many people then they could have made sure that those bathrooms were clean. It looks like it could be a cool place to go if you were going for live music or maybe hanging out after hours, but we won’t be dining here again.

I will never know what the food taste like. I went in this establishment. There was no other customer but me there was a lady behind the register and two people in the bar section. No one acknowledge my presence. The lady on the register Was on the phone. I’m assuming she was taking an order she didn’t say I’ll be right with you or anything. I looked at the menu a minute. She’s still on the phone and she goes in the back. She comes back out still on the phone then 2 Men came in through the side door went into the back 5 people still, no one acknowledged my presence. I turned around and walked out.
