We’ve been coming to Aspendos for some years now since it first opened. Grateful to have a nice halal restaurant in Princeton for special occasions. The food is prepared very thoughtfully. The complimentary fresh hot bread with cheese and olive oil is wonderful. We’ve tried several dishes over the years. Food is overall enjoyable but for the high price still leaves a little bit more to desire; the taste in most dishes could be slightly improved to make it from good to amazing!

The service is overall pretty good (a few times very good!) but can vary. The decor and indoor table set up is nice. Lovely big windows. Enough space for plenty of people. Usually not very packed. Not loud, feels relaxed. The location is a very short and convenient walk from parking nearby Lot 10 when it’s cold out. Hope this restaurant continues to do well and hopefully even better as time goes on.

Aspendos is on the pricey side, but I’ve been here a few times and generally enjoyed it. The crispy troya liver is always a solid choice, and the free balloon bread is usually a nice touch. The rib flatbread was excellent when I tried it about a year ago, with well-seasoned beef short ribs and aromatic thyme. However, the recent trial was not satisfying. I’d definitely skip the grilled octopus. It was overcooked and very bitter. Also, this is not a good spot if you’re in a hurry. Service tends to be slow, and there’s usually a long wait to order and to check out.

I stopped in for dinner on a Sunday evening and the wait time was about 10 mins. The staff could use some improvement to be more attentive. The appetizer and salad were delicious and packed flavor. The main entrees were over cooked and not as tasty. I’m will to give Aspendos Mediterranean and chance and try other menu options.

Excellent food, friendly service, lovely, clean, welcoming place. The soup of the day was lentil – superb, rich with flavors. We ordered one of flat breads to share, and it was quite tasty and filling. I will love to come back.

I ordered the watermelon salad here and strongly recommend avoiding it. What arrived was simply chunks of half-ripe watermelon (many pieces were white, bland, and flavorless) with a few pieces of cheese placed next to them—nothing that could reasonably be called a salad. The cheese was unpleasant, and even the watermelon itself was difficult to eat. For $15, this was a complete disappointment.

When I raised the issue, the staff told me directly that since the chef doesn’t allow remakes or replacements, there was nothing they could do. This shows very poor management and no sense of accountability.

Some of the other dishes were okay, but overall the experience was frustrating and disappointing. Definitely not worth it.

Overall food is not bad but quite blend (lack of salt), Drink list was a bit limited for restaurant this size. BBQ ribs is not marinated enough, need to add extra sauce. The mushroom & spinach side dish, you can barely see the spinach, they should just call it stir fried mix mushroom instead……..service wise friendly, the sofa seats are not that comfortable especially if you are not a tall person, it will sinks too much and makes the table too high……

I recently visited this restaurant and tried a few dishes that I’d love to share my thoughts on.

We started with the Baby Spanish Salad, which was absolutely delicious! The mix of flavors — burrata, figs, and almonds — was just perfect. It was fresh, balanced, and really appetizing.

We also tried the Pumpkin Sinkonta, and I have to say, it completely surprised me. The texture and taste reminded me of labneh mixed with pumpkin — rich, creamy, and something I’ve never tasted before. A truly creative starter!

Now, moving on to the main courses.
The first one was the Smoked Rib with jus sauce. Honestly, I expected something more special, especially since the description said it was 12 hours cured and 6 hours cooked. I imagined a tender, smoky piece of meat that melts in your mouth, but it wasn’t like that at all. The flavor didn’t have any real smoke to it, and the sauce tasted like a basic barbecue sauce. Also, the fat-to-meat ratio was way off — there was more fat than actual meat.

The second main dish was the Lamb Casserole. The menu mentioned mushrooms, thyme, onions, and garlic, but the only noticeable flavor was garlic. The rest of the ingredients didn’t really show up in the taste, and the portion of mushrooms was just one piece in the whole dish.

As for the service, the staff were polite, but they really need more training — especially in communication and fine dining etiquette. For example, servers should avoid placing dishes abruptly on the table or reaching behind guests without asking. These small details make a big difference in a restaurant of this level.

Overall, the starters were impressive and creative, but the main courses and service didn’t live up to the same standard.

This is such a great place. Food is excellent. Ordered the kale salad and the octopus appetizer. Both were delicious. They also serve each table this soft warm oven roasted bread with dips. Yum!

The food was great—especially the main dishes, which were all really well done. The dessert didn’t quite live up to the rest, but overall still a nice meal. We went on a Sunday evening, so it was a bit loud with lots of chatter, kids, and the occasional dropped plate. The server took a little while to get to us, but totally understandable given how busy it was.

Food was incredible, but service can be slow at times, and the atmosphere is classy but a bit slow for a Saturday night.
