I had tried this place not too long ago. In its title it says izakaya and that was what first caught my attention but sadly i was a little disappointed because they didn’t have much in the ways of izakaya. I ordered ramen, pork belly and takoyaki. The ramen is decent for this area, the broth could be a bit more creamy but the flavoring was there. The pork belly i was disappointed with because of how thin it was sliced for what you are getting wasn’t worth the price. The takoyaki however I really enjoyed. It we really well balanced and came out fresh and hot so be careful while eating. I wasn’t overly wowed but also not extremely disappointed. Over all it was ok, I will give it a little more time to develop before trying again.

Two girls responsible for the front of house and service were good. Very nice and attentive, the rating has nothing to do with their abilities and everything to do with the food. It’s just plain bad- completely uninspired, not really a trace of any actual Japanese technique or flavoring for that part. Rice looked and tasted old, miso was tragically strange tasting. Beer was good lol.

We had dinner there last night. We ordered the Fried Oysters, Tempura Green Beans and Cucumber Sunomono to start. Everything was delicious and spot on. We also ordered the Healdsburg Ramen and the Volcano Spicy Ramen. Best ramen since we have left the South Bay and the city! Their sushi rolls are amazing as well. Please support this new small family owned business and authentic Japanese cuisine! We will be back!

I went there with my boyfriend for dinner. He ordered the volcano ramen and LOVED it. I ordered the veggie udon and was really disappointed. I’m vegan and this was the only thing it seemed I could have. I asked if they had anything with no meat and dairy and I was told that this one dish had no dairy. For being called veggie udon it had a tiny portion of mushrooms, a tiny portion of bean sprouts and then the whole top was BIG chunks of white cabbage. There were not very many noodles and the broth was SO bland. It’s just not worth it to me to go to a place where there is one thing I can eat and that one thing isn’t very good.

I really enjoyed my lunch, I had the Volcano Ramen. And the pricing for the food was reasonable but I have a real issue with charging $3.50 for a can of Diet Coke. If you want community support don’t charge “ballpark” prices for things like drinks and sides.

I had lunch here two weeks ago. I ate the Healdsburg (Salt) Ramen. A beautiful seafood Ramen that was far better than expected. My wife had the bento plate. The owner came out and chatted with us. Asahi is a very welcome addition to the neighborhood.

Had lunch recently. Husband ordered salmon katsu which was fine. I ordered miso ramen and was disappointed. The broth was bland, toppings were ho hum, and the ramen was lukewarm. I was looking forward to a solid ramen experience — bowl should be piping hot, a rich broth is what makes it stand apart, and the toppings need to be unique. Fingers crossed things will pick up in quality. Right now, Ramen Gaijin is the best in the area.

New place.. We order to go. With that in mind you aways loss a little of something instead of steaming hot from the kitchen. That being said. We had a big order for 3 adults 2 kids. Fryed oysters, pot stickers, egg rolls, different noodles. I had the healdsburg, teriyaki chicken to name a few. Everyone enjoyed what they got. We will try it again after they’ve been open for a few weeks
