I stopped in to do some writing, and cannot say enough about the staff, who are helpful and nice. AND – the prices on all of their coffee drinks are about half or less than Starbucks!! And to me, tasted better.Columbian themed with authentic recipes from Columbia, staffed by sweet people from Columbia. This is a cozy place with plenty of seating (86 or more seats and great for hosting an event), very clean, and lots of choices of bakery and full meals. There must be about 200 different types of items for sale here. With plenty of free parking right in front of it. Nice Columbian music playing. Lots of families and couples come here. Very well set up for take out / ordering ahead. Aroma Cafe in Springfield, VA, a close suburb of Washington, D.C. An oasis of great coffee and food right off of the intersection of two of the busiest interstate highways in the country. Why pay double or triple at other coffee shops when you can come here, save money, and it tastes better! (plus nicer people by far than most of the big box / chain coffee shops).
The empanada I ordered seems to be older, O reheated, which is the norm nowadays.
plenty of indoor seating and plenty of parking.
The best Colombian bakery I’ve tried so far in NOVA
Owner needs to hire more workers to clean restrooms and floors and tables. A customer should not be moving dirty dishes and dirty napkins to able to sit with their family.
I will return to give this place a better review in the near future , I think it’s fair.

I placed an online order for pickup, was charged in full, and was never notified of any issue. I drove almost an hour to pick up the order, only to be told upon arrival that my order was not ready and would not be fulfilled at all. This order was for an event I was attending, so I was left scrambling at the last minute while staff showed no acknowledgment or accountability for their mistake.
I was never contacted, never proactively refunded, and had extreme difficulty reaching anyone. Phone calls went unanswered repeatedly. As a last resort, I commented on one of their Instagram posts and my comment was deleted. I posted again and still received no response. It wasn’t until over a month later that someone finally shared an alternate phone number for a staff member.
When the refund was finally processed, it was only partial about 65% of the total charge. I am still having to follow up to recover the remaining balance. To make matters worse, I was blocked from their Instagram page.
At this point, this is no longer about the money. It’s about the complete lack of professionalism, accountability, and basic customer service. I am a reasonable person and understand that the food industry is complex but businesses do not have the right to charge customers, fail to deliver, avoid communication, and then silence them.
This experience was not only disappointing, it was disrespectful. Unfortunately, this is one of the only places offering Colombian food in the area, which leaves customers with little choice. A quick look at reviews across platforms shows that customer service issues are a consistent pattern. I had previous less-than-great experiences ordering here, but this was the tipping point.
This business seriously needs education and improvement in customer service. Customers deserve transparency, communication, and respect.
THE LINE. Insane. They need a better system in place. Order a kiosk for people to make TO GO order, and not wait in line with those that are actually trying to dine in. People that have to go order will take their time ordering because they have no urgency to go but to order the whole damn menu. Meanwhile other wait for an hour in line!
That’s crazy, go with the times and get involved with technology that’s making it easier and not frustrating your customers.
Only thing I don’t like is the location, there’s a Spanish market and a nightclub? restaurant next to it where men stand upfront so when walking in or out of Aroma the eyes are on you if you are a woman.
I honestly recommend just trying everything on the menu, but most importantly the Pandeja Paisa, their drinks salpicon (fruit drink) and guanavana smoothie.
