This is a true hole in the wall. I say that as a good thing. This place is small but puts out a good product. Usually BBQ places or out all the specialties of bbq but this place is pork only, no brisket. Oh, and fish.

The sides, oh I loved the bbq beans-excellent. The potato salad is a heavy mustard type, which I love but others might find off-putting.

I’m impressed by the outdoor chimney smoker they use. Their single sauce was a thin and flavorful one, thin like a Carolina sauce.

My friend brought us here and we’d go back again.

We ordered a slab for two of us to share. We could have fed one more easily. Ribs tasted great, a little charred on some but you have to trade off because it was grilled atop a pit fire. If you order large beans – it’s too much for one person. Love supporting local businesses – please do the same here.

The food was really good! Got the half chicken and it was gone. I read the reviews before I went and it didn’t disappoint. The place itself is old school. They have a new patio built were you can eat. I was the only person there, that why 1 star for atmosphere.

I was down here for work and looked up the best local restaurants and Archibald’s came up first. I had the large rib plate with slaw and potato salad. (Best damn ribs and sauce I’ve ever had). The food is inexpensive for what you get and well worth every penny spent. I highly recommend checking Archibald’s out

You might think that other place is good, but you need to wake up from that “dream” and go to Archibald’s! They have the best ribs in T’town, and it’s a family-owned restaurant, so they take pride in serving great food & treating customers right. Go get the large rib dinner (6 bones) with baked beans (also the best in T’town) and fried okra – you can thank me later.

Tried the original location in Northport. Everything about this place spelled out Southern BBQ!!

I ordered the ribs and pork bbq plate with slaw.

This place was recommended to me when in town for a football game. Didn’t disappoint. I’ve been eating at a lot of bbq restaurants throughout the south and I believe this was definitely tops so far.

Welcome to flavor country. I could taste the smoke and flavor all the way through the meats down to the bone. I loved it and everything was very tender.

Spoke to a nice lady who’s part of the founding family and she brought me out a wing to sample. It wasn’t a big wing like you get at a chain, but the flavor was cooked right through that bird. It was delicious as all get out!!

Slaw is slaw…. I didn’t eat here for the slaw. They spend their time where it’s important, the meat!!

So get on over to Archibald’s and eat some meat!!

This is old school, smoked barbecue. It’s obvious why this place is legendary and definitely worth a visit. The register was being worked by the granddaughter of the man who started Archibald’s. I was treated kindly and felt cared for. The mixed plate was smoky and delicious. They have a vinegar sauce that had a nice tang and was a great change of pace from the typical sweet red sauce. The dining area is essentially a covered patio, but it was very comfortable and allows you to strike up some conversations if you want. I shared my table with a family from Texas who said they loved the meat, sauce, baked beans, potato salad, and banana pudding. It was different from the Texas barbecue they’re familiar with but they left very happy.

This is legacy nex barbq at it’s best. They have been doing it for over 60 years. The food was phenomenal the service and did I say the food. Pull pork melts in your mouth. The ribs stick to the bone until you bite into it.I will definitely make the drive roughly 150 miles to have again

So this was the third place I went to in Tuscaloosa. It’s awesome how old this place is and the BBQ history here. I loved the old pit which they still call a hole in the wall. I ordered the ribs, the pork which you can get sliced or chopped and baked beans and coleslaw. I got the pork sliced because that’s what they recommend. It was so moist and flavorful, and the bark had great flavor. I would definitely get that again. The ribs however were a little disappointing. They had great smoke flavor, however there was no rub on them. Some pieces were a little tough and fatty. I did like them I just don’t know if I would get them again because of the last two points. The sauce was excellent because it is vinegar based and reminds me of a Carolina sauce. Baked beans and Coleslaw were really good as well. I definitely recommend going to this place. Totally worthwhile. You have to go to the Northport one though.

Their food truck came to Presbyterian apartments today. We had three options. We could choose a rib plate with 3 ribs for $13, pork or chicken sandwich plate for $10, or 6 wings plate for $10. Everything came with two sides. Macaroni and cheese, baked beans, or coleslaw. I had never tried their food before, so I ordered one wing plate for lunch, and a pork sandwich for later. The wings were tiny legs with a sauce that was a little sweet. The macaroni and cheese was creamy and tasted like it should. The coleslaw – forget it. There was plenty of creaminess and mayonnaise, but there was a funky taste about it that I couldn’t identify. I couldn’t eat it beyond a couple of bites, nor could my friend. The pork sandwich was good, with a sauce that was tangy. It was chopped meat with a liquid drizzled in it. I tried a bite of the baked beans. They might have had chili sauce in them. They were good, just a little sweet and different. I would rather spend my money on pulled pork. If you like a lot of vinegar in your food, this might be for you. This wasn’t good enough to try again for my money.
