We’ve been exploring local spots we hadn’t tried yet, and Arata Sushi in Prospect definitely made the “we’ll be back” list. Cozy atmosphere, attentive service, and a menu that’s just the right size — not overwhelming, but full of tempting options.
We started with the gyoza, and wow — perfectly crispy edges with a tender, flavorful filling. Not greasy at all, and served piping hot. They disappeared fast.
Next up, a sushi staple: the California Roll. Simple, yes — but Arata nails the freshness. Cool cucumber crunch, creamy avocado, and real crab flavor (not that overly sweet imitation stuff some places sneak in). A great balance and tightly rolled, which sushi lovers will appreciate.
But the star of the night? The chocolate torte cake. Rich, decadent, and so smooth it felt like it should’ve been served with a warning. A must-order even if you “don’t do dessert.”
All in all, Arata is a gem hiding in plain sight. If you’re local and haven’t tried it yet, this is your sign.

Delicious sushi and food! Incredibly accommodating for gluten free needs. They can even do gluten free dumplings and tempura items. Sushi was fresh, made quickly for take out and presented beautifully. Highly recommend.

I’m gluten free and this was the best experience getting sushi I’ve had in the last 7 years since becoming gluten free. One of the owners has celiac disease and they went above and beyond with making the process easy and are so kind. They can make almost every sushi item gluten free and several appetizers and a few desserts as well. It was not crowded when I went and they even FRIED my roll. It was unbelievable. Could not recommend Arata enough, especially if you’re gluten free!

If you like sushi of any variety, then you will LOVE this hidden gem in the heart of Prospect! Great food, wonderful atmosphere, friendly staff, and just an all-around amazing time! I have enjoyed their dishes several times and have never left unsatisfied in any way, except for that the experience was over! From their great hot teas to their fresh and crisp salads and all the way to their soup options, they have you covered from the start. The wide variety of rolls they offer is great (compared to other joints), and they can customize any roll for you. Then, if you still have room, their desserts will help hit the spot! Keep up the great work. I’ll see you all again soon

This place does both custom Teas and Sushi. Go hungry and in the mood for new.
They can seem a bit pricey but trust me it is worth it.
The food quality, something VERY important to me when eating sushi was outstanding. Fresh, cold cuts of all types. There was not one piece that didn’t deliver. We did their $30 tray and a roll to go with and the value was incredible. This coupled with a vanilla/rum tea made for a great meal without any one thing over powering another.
The service was excellent and we never had to wait on them. Our slowest point of the meal was trying to decide between all of their unique options.
I will definitely be back. Again they’re not a discount place.
