So excited they expanded to a brunch option! Best BBQ in the cities! Great spot to catch a noon football game at the bar! Bar staff is exceptional and so friendly! Get everything on the menu! Can’t go wrong with anything! The sticky ribs are phenomenal!

Note: BBQ isn’t served until after 4pm.
Animales has a very welcoming atmosphere with lovely string lights, a bar, and a stage. Cool ambiance, and we really wanted to love this restaurant, but we came out feeling disappointed.
The mac and cheese is bland. The crab hushpuppies were tasteless, with only small bits of crab inside. The prime rib Philly cheese steak sandwich was alright, but not amazing for $24. The best part of our meal was the banana pudding.
Due to the lack of flavor, and the 20% mandatory gratuity, the restaurant was expensive (easily over $80 for lunch for two people), I would not actively seek out this restaurant. May come back in the future to try their actual BBQ.
Also, yes, shoeless children running around did make the ambiance less enjoyable. This place is kid-friendly, which makes it less adult-friendly.

Pros: food is tasty, have a play area for kids, service is friendly
Cons: loud and cavernous, parking is basically circling side streets. Saturday was a brunch menu even at 2 pm.
Genuine and helpful service. You order through QR codes at each table and food is brought out as it’s ready by all staff.
Food is on point, it is unique and delicious. We had a larger group and tried sticky ribs, french toast, avocado toast, smash burgers, sausage, etc. All of it was great.
Love the play area for younger kids!

Late review from early November. It was a bit crazy since it hasn’t been open long. We had the pork sampler. Overall it was great, but the sausage was surprisingly delicious. We had the mac and cheese and coleslaw. The coleslaw was a bit disappointing. Definitely worth checking out.

The food was good 8-10 just more expensive than we expected. I didn’t like the ordering style although I do see the benefits. I guess I’m just old school. The drinks were ok nothing special and pricy as well. The gratuity is already included in your bill. I ordered two drinks and it was $40. Including taxes and gratuity the total amount spent for 2 people was a little under $200. Overall the experience was good. I went around 7pm I felt a sense that they wanted everyone to leave after 8pm. So I will plan to go a little earlier next time. I would like to go when there’s live music

Great ambiance and live music entertainment. Nice open concept with good seating arrangements. After a few minutes with no one coming by we went to the bar to order some drinks. Still seated after the visit to the bar we kept wondering where the service was. Then we saw a small QR scan tucked in utensils and napkin roll. We then realized we had to scan and order. Food came out shortly after we ordered thru the QR Code and then and only then were we greeted by wait staff. The Pastrami Beef Rib had great bark and looked the part. But sadly it had no flavor and lack any part of Pastrami. Other than the nice bark and beautiful burgundy red meat, it fell short and was very disappointing. The pork ribs were over cooked and had the texture of mush. Came off the bone and fell apart. Pork belly was the shining star here. Perfect cook and flavor was on point. Melt in your mouth rendered fat. Slighty sweet and salty. The chopped pork which im usually not a fan off was actually juicy and had good flavor. The Andouille sausage was dry and tough. Hard texture like it was stuffed to tight. Mac and cheese was just an after thought was very watered down. Beans had good flavor but was cold to warm at best. Fries were just fries but the dipping sauce saved it. A lot of aspects of the whole experience was just not hitting the marks. Mediocre food and lack of any service what so ever. Ran out of water, out of paper towels. Only had it restocked after the other side of the table left and they came to clean the other side of the table. 20% gratuity added to the food is just absurd if you can’t play the part of actually servicing your customers. In short, its just like a big food truck service. You order online, get your food and fend for yourself. Which in many cases is great, just dont charge a fee to not service. Overall it was a big disappointment and will not return.

Thank you Animales!
This is our favorite BBQ place north of Texas and the THE VERY BEST pork ribs north of Memphis. Seriously, lip smacking good every time. Don’t sleep on the pork belly either. Smoky, tender and full of flavor. Perfection.
Context: We go on a Texas BBQ each fall and we’ve enjoyed the very best BBQ in the world. We are GRATEFUL for a place like this in MN. Thank you, thank you, thank you Animales!

Animales is a unicorn. Careful thought and intention was made to create a space that caters to both kids and adults.
For families with kids: A (take your shoes off) play space for kids and toddlers, bathrooms without auto-flush toilets and with step stools for hand washing and family style sharing menus.
For adults: craft cocktails, local beer on draft, sports on large screen tvs, a stage with live music.
For everyone: Delicious bbq ordered through qr code with gratuity built in. Outstanding service. Great vibes!

Congratulations Animales for creating an amazing space! It’s cute, fun, and kid-friendly.
We ordered to-go:
– Pastrami beef ribs (10/10)
– 1/2 rack St. Louis ribs (10/10)
– Smoked pork belly (8/10)
– Smash burger (100/10)
– Coleslaw (10/10)
– Beans (7/10)
– Mac and cheese (10/10)
We were all happy dancing as we ate—and we were so excited that I forgot to take pics. That never happens! Even the pickles were perfect, and I’m a picky pickle eater.
Can’t wait to go back!

Super good vibes here and amazing food as always! The pork belly was amazing as were the ribs and the bone marrow! The fries are slightly sweet crispy and cloud like in the middle too addictive!
