We went on a off season weeknight for dinner. We sat ourselves at the bar. The staff was friendly and very attentive! The food was tasty but a bit overpriced for the portions. I ordered the shrimp tacos and there were only 2 regular sized shrimp per regular sized taco (3 tacos, 6 shrimp total). It was a bit of a let down. There was not a way to get some shrimp in each bite. But? It was super tasty! Just needed a bit more meat. Even 3 shrimp per taco would have helped. We also ordered the chicken nachos. They were very good! Nice flavor and quantity. The Mac and cheese side was Kraft microwaved. I thought it would be more homemade style but that is ok. I should have asked first. Overall, we would definitely go back. Updated menu photos included. I forgot to get pictures of our food.

Nice outdoor seating area but no staff to greet you when you enter, just a seat your self sign. Staff didn’t seem very attentive and lots of dirty tables sitting and attracting bees. Had to get our own menus from yhe bar. Food was just ok. Pretzel bites overdone. Menu really cut back from last year. Views are good.

Nice restaurant overlooking the Rock River. There’s a large building for indoor seating and patio and lawn seating outside.

Our rehearsal dinner was FANTASTIC!! The venue was beautifully decorated with a Christmas tree and white linens without us even asking. The food was delicious, perfect temperature and displayed beautifully for our guests to easily and quickly go through the buffet line. Thank you Kurt & Bella!! Our guests were quickly served with beverages by their excellent bartender RuthAnne…thank you!!! It was the perfect ending for our day!!

Izzy was on points. Service and food was as expected and the outside seating on the river was a nice touch. Got to love the playground. Good spot to unwind for the evening. Reminds us of the Hurricane hole in Key West.

Arrived on a Saturday afternoon just as the band was setting up. The waite staff were not as pleasant or responsive as I would have liked. The venue was good with plenty of outdoor seating, though there is so much more potential for this place. The food was good, but the menu seemed limited and pretty standard. There was nothing that truly stood out. I’d come back for the right band, but not just to eat.

We tried Anchor Bar & Grill several weeks ago when we were traveling through and thought the food was delicious. So when we were traveling from MN to IL we had to stop again. The nachos are so delicious and plenty for 2 or to have leftovers to take home. My husband had the salad and said it was very delicious.

This is actually 3.5 stars, but alas that’s not an option.
There is NO PLACE quite like the Anchor in the area. It’s huge. It’s newly remodeled after a fire a couple years ago. It’s on the Rock River. And the entertainment is AMAZING!
We love going for the bands (that play out on the water!) and the atmosphere. Staff is friendly but hit or miss on how good of a server they are/attention.
The reason it’s not 5 star is the food. It’s not terrible, but it’s rarely great. We had onion straws which were great, but the nachos seemed like they were sitting for a bit before we got them and weren’t good. We let the server know and he said he knew they were fresh and this was his first complaint. We were just letting him know so they could correct it for others. Again, you go for the atmosphere and music and fun, so we’ll definitely be back.

The appetizers are out of this world! However our Cuban sandwich was served cold -the cheese wasn’t even melted -and the burger that was asked for medium rare was WELL done. Stick to the fried things cause they’re delicious!. Bartenders behind the counter super nice just not trained very well. Could be more attentive especially when it’s slow. And just because someone knows what a Paloma is doesn’t mean they know how to make it. LOL so I spent a lot of money on some top shelf tequila to have it destroyed by way too much soda and No lime. Glassware and silverware would be wonderful because it’s a really beautiful place and a great atmosphere but sitting there drinking a cocktail out of a plastic cup when you’re inside at a great bar leaves something to be desired. Like I said fried pickles are insane their mozzarella sticks are great and the people that work there are lovely! Just needs some training and tweaking and it would be 5 across the board.
