My husband and I are from SC, but we always stop here when we come to Virginia. Our waiter, Brendon, was the absolute GOAT! He made wonderful suggestions and is great with people. He accidentally threw away my leftovers, but I got a WHOLE NEW MEAL to take home! That’s service! Everything we ate was incredible, but DO NOT sleep on the chocolate pudding if it’s on the menu! Just can’t say enough great things about this place. Also, a very nice selection of mocktails.

Excellent service. The oak smoked wings are incredible. Perfectly seasoned, juicy, and bursting with flavor. I eat wings regularly, and these are the best wings I have had in a long time. Fried green tomatoes are delicious, but not your typical southern fare. They have a hint of sweetness. Full bar and several wine and draft beer choices.

We have eaten here several times over the years. We have never had a bad meal. The “vibe” is perfect (a little more romantic in the dining room, a little more casual in the bar, and super casual and family friendly outside). Not only is the food delicious but the service has always been outstanding! Stop in, get a few small plates, and enjoy yourself.

This place was gorgeous and of great ambiance. The staff was exceptionally nice, helpful and caring. The food and drinks were great, and fresh. The prices seemed a bit high and very minimal choices but a great place to go! The crafted cocktails were superb.

Wow! What an incredible dinner at the Amber Ox. Our first two courses were outstanding. I had the poutine and the duck. Both were flavorful and complex; cooked to perfection. The service was outstanding and the cocktails were delicious with a punch. I wish I cold give five stars. Unfortunately our deserts, the Meyer lemon chess pie came with a shockingly undercooked crust. The filling was light, airy but passive. I was disappointed that the final impression was underbaked after two incredible other courses and outstanding cocktails. Definitely give this place a try. I recommend making a reservation.

Started with the biscuit board and mussels. Both tasted great. Mussels had a sausage on top that had a kick. Drink was the How You Say Cucumber drink. Nice, refreshing cocktail. Main course was the Gnocci. Perfectly fried and sauced. Couldn’t fit dessert. Service was on point and food was fast to come out.

The food was delicious. We had the veggie board as an appetizer along with the ham board, and it was absolutely fantastic. Home-made hummus and roasted veggies were presented beautifully and tasted even better. I had to try the burger. It’s so good. One of our guests had shrimp and grits and gave it juat an ok. Too much butter and ended up with a stomach ache. Our service was wonderful. It was a first visit for most at the table, and everyone said they would return.

As a disclaimer and for starters , I am from out of town , born and bred in NYC where I had the luxury to dine at multiple winning chefs establishments (courtesy of my * innovative * food-obsessed mother, at times), but now having been influenced by her prestige, I do venture many places and seek out what might appear to fit my palate. I take risks when traveling out of town, but Amber Ox was a risk worth detouring to instead of getting home from a long drive (NC to Philly). I am in awe that this joint has not attained, at bare minimum, a 4.7 or up, but leave it to spoiled, entitled folks to denigrate a clearly beautiful, relaxed, and off-the-cuff fine-dining establishment . I am a “Woman of Color” —{ugh to that terminology} and my husband is a white man, and our experience was neither less nor more than based on this (just in reference to some insecure folks).

It was our first night in town and decided to come in for drinks and appetizers. What a treat! We ordered appetizers… pimento cheese and homemade bread chips. All I can say was AMaZing! The drinks were awesome too as well as the service at the bar. We decided to stay for dinner and moved to an outside table. Our server was Jessica Roman. I can’t say enough about how great of a server and person she is! Our party was 6 ladies and she was on point and never left us needing anything. Our drinks were awesome, our dinner was delicious and desserts were amazing! We had shrimp & grits, hamburgers and fried chicken. The old fashioned drink was amazing. Jessica heard us talking about our relative that just got great news that she’s cancer free. It was an emotional moment and Jessica was so compassionate. She came out with a champagne toast on the house. What a wonderful sweet gesture.

I stopped in for a drink and food and could not decide what to get. Kat was generous enough to listen to my wants and make suggestions. I decided on the wings and mushroom soup. The coco loco cocktail was just what I like. Everything that I picked was absolutely delicious. There are other items that I’d like to try next time. The size of both food items was enough to satisfy my appetite. I will definitely stop in and recommend this place to friends. Thank you for the awesome customer service from all that I encountered.
