I was working in the Chapel Hill area today and decided to stop in for lunch, and I’ve got to say—this was hands down the best burger I’ve ever had. I highly recommend spending the extra $4 for an additional patty, and if you’re a fan of sweet potato fries, don’t skip the winnie sauce. The service was outstanding, and the atmosphere was top-notch. I’ll definitely be coming back sooner rather than later!

Quality burger/sandwich and fries place! I actually got their turkey burger to switch it up this time and it was pretty good! I would probably prefer the normal hamburger patty, but still enjoyed the other. They also have grilled chicken and a black bean burgers. Their sweet potato fries are SO GOOD. They are salty with a little sugar sweetness. I do wish a side (fries of some sort) came with the burgers, but you do have to order them separate. In total my meal was $16.50 before tax, which I feel is pricey for a burger and fries- but they taste good so it’s fine. The staff is friendly and nice. They have indoor (pretty limited) and outdoor seating which is great for a new sunny day. Overall this is a great place for a quicker meal!

My husband and I stopped here for lunch while in Chapel Hill today. Ordering was easy and Malik C was friendly and helpful. Our food arrived about 10 minutes later. Bought by a nice server. We got 2 Ellie’s, 2 drinks and 2 side salads – total $34.79. Surprised that the Ellie (Turkey burger) did not come with fries. Fries were &3.95 and Chocolate Shake was $6.45 = another $11.20. The food was delicious and fresh. The salad dressing was amazing. Next time is skip the purple onions in my burger because that one was strong. Restaurant was clean and relaxing atmosphere with music playing. There was also seating outside.

Good experience across the board. This is a fast casual dining experience. Fresh tasting burgers and a very simple menu. I appreciated the local items on the menu and the ability to eat inside or outdoors in their covered patio. Not the best or most unique burger experience I’ve ever had but a solid option if you’re in the area or craving a classic.

When I’m craving a cheeseburger I go directly to Al’s. Best damn burgers. And hot crispy tater tots.

The Classic burger and the Bobo chili cheese burger were very tasty. The sweet potato fries and crinkly fries were crispy with just enough salt on them. The only issue is the lack of seating both indoors and outdoors. The indoor wall decor is interesting with many different number plates

Great burger joint in North Carolina. Such a cool college vibe. All of the people working there are students and the kid behind the grill was jamming to old school hip hop. There is outdoor seating and just good ol food. Don’t expect luxury anything here except BURGERS and TATOR TOTS

Went there with high expectations after reading all the comments, but the food was average. The fries were good, but the burger could be bigger and better. The staff was really good and gelpful. Overall, it was a decent experience

Today I learned that if you order a Nashy Smashy “as a salad” (what it says as an option on the menu board), DO NOT expect a Nashy Smashy salad. What you should expect to receive is:
“1 Nashy Smashy
No Bun”
Which is exactly what I found in the bag and what I found on my receipt when I got home.
To say I was surprised and disappointed pretty much sums it up. The food is so good that I’m not going to say anything stupid like ‘I’m never coming back again’ because that’s just not true.
I did take off 1 star because I’m still a bit gutted.
What I would like is some clarification either in the description on the menu board, change it to “No Bun” or make it a true salad as advertised.
I have no problem getting any sub as a true salad (they call it a Bowl I think) at Jersey Mikes or Subway. Why is “as a salad” NOT a salad at Al’s? Come on, you guys are way better than that.

This has easily become part of our monthly eating out rotation! These guys know how to make a tasty burger and I hear they’re going to start offering a decent line up of nonalcoholic beers to wash those burgers down with too!
