Our History – Allegretti’s Bakery
Allegretti’s Bakery may be in suburban Norridge, but it has roots in Chicago. Anthony Allegretti was a cook in the US Army during World War II.

Never mind the line outside the door around this holiday time once she got inside, it was a very efficient process. They also had nice signage outside the door so people knew while they were waiting in line to deal with the holiday menu.
They have a really cool train zooming above you when you get inside so keep an eye out for that and signs everywhere and delicious pastries everywhere the food looks beautiful. The people working there are happy and helpful.
I was able to get two chocolate cake, donuts, and two cinnamon sugar donuts for my holiday breakfast.
Everybody else is picking up orders and then adding onto those orders once they got there. But they have plenty of tasty treats. Someone even got a slice of turtle pie and then end up buying the whole darn turtle pie.

Allegretti’s Bakery was able to make my vision for my baby shower cake come through last minute as the other bakery I’ve ordered from in the past was going through a transitional period. They exceeded my expectation and delivered exactly what I wanted. I’ll definitely be using them again in the near future. The carrot flavor was very delicious.

This bakery is second to none. Not only can you not find any better cakes, pastries, cookies, donuts, or sweets they have even better customer service. They are always so kind and so helpful. They have been open for over sixty years and that is a testament of their outstanding quality and service. We drive from 45 minutes away from Lake Forest just to go to this bakery. If you have not been here yet, and have a taste for something sweet, don’t hesitate to give them a try. For all the people that have been here before you know how amazing they are already.

Best pumpkin pie I’ve ever had. I knew it would be different when they have a big sign out front promoting pumpkin CHEESE pie. Never been here before, and I appreciated the patience and friendliness. I was able to try their coconut cream pie and had the same reaction for how well made it was. I can’t wait to try future baked goods!

8th Birthday was a success with the most delicious donuts ever, thanks to Allegrettis. Last minute need on a Sunday afternoon and this bakery came through! Very fresh, delicious cakey flavors, not dry, and be sure to have milk and coffee on hand! We will be back!

I am new to the area and was told that this is the place for donuts. Before I even entered the bakery I could smell how good it was going to be. There was a small line but the staff moved through it quickly and with a smile. Looking at the options, it was overwhelming but in the best way possible. Everything looked amazing and I asked for suggestions from other people I line. I ended up with donuts, brownies, turnovers and canolis. The sugar cinnamon donuts and canolis were the stand outs but everything was delicious. Can’t wait to go back and try all the other options. Even the bread looked amazing. When I left, the line was out the door. Guess I got there at the perfect time.

Stopped in to try the chocolate frosted donut. The cake donut was very soft and light. It was good. I also enjoyed the vanilla long john and the chocolate filled with custard. I like the chocolate they use because it’s more like fudge. I will definitely go back and try some other pastries and the pizza bread.

Been there several times, everything I have tried has been really good. My issue is there’s an older lady (resembles a female scrooge) that works there and she is super unfriendly, never smiles, looks bothered and annoyed by everything. You would think walking into a bakery, everyone is happy and “sweet”, well not this one! Avoid being taken care of by this older lady, just wait for the next available person, seems everyone is friendly except her.

A great neighborhood bakery with lots of good things, including pizzas to go and to reheat at home to eat plenty of parking and it’s in a strip mall. Is that friendly and very helpful. The prices are very reasonable.

OK, I know they’re famous for their chocolate donuts and rightfully so probably the best in the city. I take it back. They are the best in the city.
But if I was to give second place, I would give these apple Fritters, they’re absolutely amazing!! There is no skimping on apples in these apple fritters. They have been there for over 60 years original owners, I would say they’re doing something right.
