Exceed expectations! We ordered the akoya omakase and it was well worth the price and long hour drive. Everything was well seasoned from appetizers to nigiri, ingredients were well paired too. If they could swap the miso soup with something else and maybe add in some other hot items that would be great. Dessert tiramisu was good tasting but I wish we could have something more expected to have at a Japanese restaurant.
Also love that they let you pick your own sake cup!
Our waiter kinda disappeared halfway thru but it’s okay. Service could use more attention to detail such as wiping the counter if there’s some dripping on the table, or missing hand wipes. Towards the end of the courses both my husband and my glass were empty but like I said our waiter disappeared.
They were very accommodating with us bringing a baby too.
Will come back for sure 🙂

The atmosphere is fine, but the quality of food is absolutely second-to-none. My wife and I got the omakase serving and it was so, so good. We rarely touched the soy sauce because the fish was so perfectly selected, cut, and accompanied by perfectly paired garnishes and sauces.

(My only complaint is that the second tier of omakase is basically 2x the price of the first, but adds very little food.)

I had the akoya omakase and it was truly exceptional. Fish was fresh and tasty and the flavor combinations were so creative and well-balanced. The chef was very attentive and explained every ingredient for me (which I appreciate). Friendly service from the team and just overall good vibes! 🙂 Honestly I’m not used to spending this much money on a single meal but I’ll say this is well worth it. If you are ever considering coming here, just do yourself a favor and pay a visit to this place! I’m a bit sad that I’m just visiting Kansas City; I wish I can come here everyday.

Incredible dining experience, led by great chefs and conversationalist. Unique and high end fish selections that are simply hard to come by this fresh in the Midwest. While I do think their price point is appealing as a consumer, they would be very justified in raising their prices for what they offer, even by $10-$15. The range is phenomenal as well, as I could easily see this as a great place to grab a drink with a friend on a weeknight or enjoy it for something more formal like an anniversary dinner. If you’re a foodie in KC, this should be at the top of your list to try next.

Great Omakase place in KC, located in a nice hotel and walkable area. Chef Peter was a master of his craft,creating countless memorable nigiri during our time at the sushi bar. The pineapple sake was such an enhancement to our experience, paired with a lovely cheese cake that’s just the right amount of sweet.

Delightful sushi spot tucked away in the Hotel Phillips. The Omakase dinner service was right up there with the best. The entire staff was extremely friendly and accommodating, the quality of the ingredients in every dish was outstanding, and some dishes featured a very unique and creative take on more traditional Japanese ingredients.

Each course was beautifully crafted, full of flavor, and brought real joy to the dining experience. You can feel how much passion and care they put into every detail. AMAZING! Seriously if you truly like sushi – not rolls – legit sushi – get in here! Every piece of fish was so fresh! The guys were all fabulous to spend time with! I know Chef Peter and Chef Jay from when they worked in Jackson, WY and when j found out Chef Peter opened his own place I booked a flight! Seriously a phenomenal meal all around! We will be back!
