I’ve been visiting San Pedro for the last 6 years and Akasha is a beautiful addition to the food scene. A quick boat ride across the lagoon- greeted by warm, friendly & professional staff. Beautiful food & drink presentation and absolutely delicious!
Thank you for a wonderful experience- we’ll be back!
Photos: Caribbean Mule (be sure to ask for the pineapple cinnamon jam!) , Snapper ceviche , pork belly, cheesecake (it doesn’t taste like any cheesecake you’ve ever had!)
Hardest part was finding it. Drove into town with out golf cart, followed directions to restaurant but didn’t realize you need to take a boat over. They have a specified boat that takes you, so keep a look out for a man in the parking lot at the end of the road. Quick 5 min boat ride to delicious food and great service.
The food itself was a little bit lacking for what we paid, but the presentation was memorable.
We got the lobster croquettes and yellow jack agua chile for appetizers. Would get the yellow jack agua chile again for sure. For mains we got the Our Poc Chuc and the Arroz de Pescador.
The staff was so friendly and made the night for us.
Akasha was such a fun experience, everyone visiting San Pedro should make it a point to visit. I’d recommend going during the day so you can enjoy the pool overlooking the water while enjoying drinks. We went on a Tuesday around 330pm and had the pool to ourselves for hours.
The red sangria with homemade pineapple and cinnamon syrup was delicious, though not very strong.
The bread & black garlic butter they bring you with dinner was to die for. Easily the best bread & butter I’ve ever had. It was so good we had to ask for more, no shame.
My only complaint is that the dinner menu did not have vegetarian dishes aside from a salad and soup, which was a little disappointing. The rest of the experience made up for this though, and we would come back.
**MAKE SURE** you go to the correct boat dock, the Belize Sea Shuttle Express dock. Google maps took us to a different dock in a residential area where we waited for 40 minutes before realizing we were in the wrong spot.
Also, don’t try to drive, just take the boat.
We attempted to arrive via golf cart since we were already in secret beach, after reading on the website it was accessible by road. We even called the restaurant to confirm, but ended up having to turn around as the roads weren’t easily traversable.
I’ve visited Akasha twice now—once for drinks with my wife and again for dinner with friends—and it never disappoints. The cocktails are excellent, and the food quality and service are both top-notch.
One of the highlights is the location; eating over the water provides a unique vantage point of San Pedro that you won’t find elsewhere. It’s a very cool vibe.
Pro-tip on getting there: It’s a quick 20-minute golf cart ride from where we stay (Black Orchid Oasis in Secret Beach). They also offer a boat taxi from town, which I haven’t tried yet, but it seems like a great option. Highly recommend!
