Having been here three times, Abe Fisher was a phenomenal experience each time, taking Jewish Ashkenazi food to unprecedented heights. I’m so sad they are closing. The menu during my last visit was the “Greatest Hits” menu. The service was incredible, Justin was the best waiter we ever had in Center City. We started off with the Roll Right In cocktail which was magical with the za’atar finish. Then the challah rolls came in with the spreads, each delicious. Then came the roasted sweet potatoes and the heirloom tomato caesar salad, both were very tasty. Then came the latke fries which are the best I’ve tried. Then came the veal schnitzel tacos which are some of the best tacos my gf and I have had in our lives. Finally, the short ribs arrived. What can I say? It’s perfect pastrami on another level. Unforgettable. Last came the desserts, of which my favorite was the bacon and egg cream. All in all, this spot will go down as one of the legendary places I’ve been to. The chefs behind the kitchen are truly some of the very best chefs in all of Philadelphia. Really sad they are closing. Apparently it’s due to marketing reasons as Abe Fisher’s sister restaurants Zahav and Laser Wolf are typically booked a month in advance where as Abe Fisher isn’t. The idea is to reopen Abe Fisher in a few years with the right timing so that it can be as busy as the sister restaurants. It’s all about timing really, as Abe Fisher opened too early and didn’t catch the heat from its subsequent sister restaurants. If I’m correct, then I can’t wait until the new Abe Fisher returns a few years later bringing back the Jewish Ashkenazi cuisine to the scene.

We came here for my boyfriend’s birthday and were really blown away! Our server Jasper had such a great attention to detail and added so many personal touches to our meal that we genuinely feel there is no better place to spend a birthday.

So special Jewish dishes and wonderful menu dining experience!!! The housemade roll and all the bread in the dishes are so tasty that I had too much carb for sure. Strongly recommend the chicken liver mousse and Montreal smoked short ribs, must order!!! The overall tasting experience is just amazing!

This is my kind of place – they serve food that is relatable and familiar but executed with finesse and a touch of refinement. Everything we had here was remarkably good – the smoked short ribs, red snapper crudo, fried zucchini flower, even the starter challah bread and fixings. Service was impeccable as well. They even got us an extra freebie appetizer, the borscht, and it was delightful. As my wife and I finished our meals and walked out of Abe Fisher, we immediately started getting giddy about what we’re going to get next time we come back – if that isn’t a sign of a great restaurant, I don’t know what is.

I hate to write bad reviews but this restaurant did not live up to my expectations. Had it been better I wouldn’t mind the $110 per person price tag. (I did write privately to the restaurant in Resy but they didn’t respond)

After living in Philadelphia for 4+ years it sucks that I’ve only gotten to visit this restaurant once I moved. It was wonderful. The food is great and really fills a different sort of niche in Philly. The restaurant itself is cool and sleek and our waiter was awesome. Super knowledgeable with the menu, attentive, and also just seemed like an incredibly nice dude. I’m so bummed it’s closing – it was an awesome experience.
