My husband surprised me on a date here on the 28th of January. I had a blast! We sat watching the chefs cook. The food was delicious! This was the best food I’ve ever had. The goat cheese dumplings were life changing! I have not stopped thinking about them since then. My husband got the lamb, while I had steak. Everything on the plate harmonized perfectly. It was truly a work of art. We got several appetizers, our entrees, and dessert. We got the Oregon Sunshine to drink and it was a great. The bartenders were having fun and engaged with customers. I miss cooking in a restaurant and I’m very picky about food handling safety. I was there for a few hours and none of the cooks made a single mistake when it came to food handling. Everything was extremely clean! The labels, the counters, and overall handling were impressive. They had great rhythm in the kitchen. Extremely fast service. I also had fun listening to their banter and limp bizkit solo. I don’t think he realized I was listening to him singing, but my millennial heart loved it. My husband and I had so much fun! The cooks were all very kind. They were also very patient. It’s not easy to cook while many people are watching and they excelled in every category. The head chef was very cool. It was fun watching him create art on a plate. I was at the far end, so I couldn’t see as well, but I could see passion on every plate. This was an amazing experience. If anyone has a chance to eat at the chefs table I do recommend it! They are a talented bunch! I am coming back on the 13th and have been counting down the days. You all are talented!

I love this restaurant so much! I’ve been here roughly 20 times over the past 3 years, and I’ve never had a bad experience. I’ve brought family and friends, and it’s always a hit.
My previous favorite was the lamb chops (sadly off the menu now), but I’ve found a new favorite in the Cedar Plank Salmon. I also highly recommend the patatas bravas (always good) and the clams (delicious!). And don’t even get me started on the molten cake—I have to get it every time, no questions asked.
As for drinks, the Paloma is fantastic, but they also have several flavorful non-alcoholic options. This is hands down the best restaurant in town. Just a heads up: make sure to reserve ahead of time for Valentine’s or Mother’s Day, because they will be booked out guaranteed!

Always a great dinner at The Cozy Taberna. We had a business dinner of 20 people last weekend and a smaller group of 6 this weekend. Great for couples and bigger groups. Food is so tasty and the drinks are a big hit. The tomahawk steak is worth it. If you’re looking for a great dinner give Cozy a chance.

We stopped in last minute and was so thankful they got us in. One of the best meals I’ve ever had. The squid ink pasta was bursting with flavor. It was a dish I couldn’t stop eating but didn’t want to end.
The bacon wrapped dates were good. 3/5
The salad with orange slices and nuts in it was amazing!! Highly recommend.
The shrimp was delicious as well!
7/10 on the old fashion.

This place has been on my list for a long time. We just never have a reason to go to Salem and the hours used to be restricted to evenings. We really don’t like to travel over an hour for dinner because it inhibits our ability to enjoy a cocktail. We were in Woodburn shopping and needed a lunch place. The Cozy Taberna popped up and was open for lunch. This was well worth the wait. We sat at the bar. It’s a lovely little vibe. The bartender was attentive and paced the dining experience to perfection. I had two Paloma’s that were delicious and
Each one tasted exactly the same. The drinks were made by two separate bartenders. It’s one of my sticking points, I appreciate the professionalism. We started with the olives and the taste buds began to sing. The olives are served warm. Such a unique flavor profile almost like they were sautéed in brown butter. Next we had the charcuterie board. Everything was harmonious and quite generous. Third course was a shrimp dish and the goat cheese dumplings. The shrimp was perfectly cooked and the dumplings were super fun. We finished with the basque cheesecake and a slice of coconut lemon cake. The cheese cake is good. I make this on a regular basis and this a good example of what the cake is supposed to be. If you have never had this before, this is one to try. The coconut lemon cake is coconut forward. It was good. It was served cold which I didn’t care for. I might like it better when it comes to room temp. This whole dining experience was fantastic. Wish it were closer to home.

This is probably one of the best places to eat in Salem. I have been here several times and only a couple times something was not cooked right. It is on the pricey side, but worth it for a night out.

We sat at the chefs counter and really enjoyed the experience, watching the chef and team. They were all amazing as was the food and service. It was Paella Wednesday and the scallop, shrimp and clam dish was very tasty as was the radichio Ceasar salad and wine! I’ve never had a cheesecake with a little carmelization, YUM. Any time we are near Salem we try to stop in.

After uploading the tax stuff to my CPA, I softened the blow by treating myself to happy hour at The Cozy Taberna. I couldn’t have been more pleased with this impulsive, decadent choice! As a solo older female diner, I sometimes get squirreled away at a forgotten table near the restrooms. But not at this joyous place! The host checked the incoming reservations (I didn’t have one) and found a catbird seat at the chef’s table for me. There, I got to see the culinary magic unfold dish by dish, as well as enjoy the teamwork and passion each chef brought to the mix. My server made great recommendations and checked in just enough to make sure I was enjoying my selections. Like others in the reviews, I highly recommend the goat cheese dumplings! I also the squid ink pasta–the best I have ever had. Don’t miss the Basque Kiss cocktail and be sure to follow-up with one of the lovely dessert options. The Cozy Taberna is the place to be–solid evidence of a life well-lived.

Such an amazing experience, the food was amazing. This is a great fine dining location, with service that can be beat. I came with a group of 8, and i have absolutely no complaints. While the prices might be on the higher side, you must keep in mind that the portions are bigger, and its a fine dining spot, with high expectations to be considered so.
When dining here, remember to be open to trying new things! Its apart of the art/experience as a whole.

An amazing experience! I was a bit skeptical at first because of the restaurant’s location, which is tucked away on a side street, but once I walked in, everything changed. The atmosphere is fantastic and very welcoming, and the food is top-notch. Plus, the bartender helped me pick out two local craft beers, and they were absolutely fantastic. Definitely a five-star gem in Salem!
