I’ve ordered the bender ender annnnd wasn’t expecting it to be as big as it was! But it was $18 bucks n worth it! It has 2 grilled cheese for a bun fried egg n bacon!
Food: outstanding, delicious, well prepared. No notes.
Service: extremely slow. At first I thought it was intentional to match the pace of cigar smoking, but that clearly wasn’t the case by the end of the meal. There several failures to bring requested items like forks or sauces. Asked for lemon with our waters. The lemon didn’t come out with the water, it came out 5 minutes afterwards in a bowl. Why? We got our cigars, but the ash trays didn’t come out for a few minutes so we had to wait to light up.
Atmosphere: the interior is definitely neat, but it’s cramped and a bit noisy. Not really the vibe you want for a chill cigar and dinner. The patio is a fun concept, being right on the rails, but there Porta-Johns visible and a parking lot right under you. Not scenic.
Cigar selection: it was fine. Plenty of options. However the humidor was cramped and we had to ask to even see it. You’re supposed to order off a cigar menu, but the menu wasn’t up to date and it had little to no info on the cigar choices.
In summary, next time I want to have a well-made burger and smoke a cigar outside on a patio in a quiet, atmosoheric, scenic location… I’m just going to do it in my back yard.
My last visit was this past Thursday. My buddy and I stopped in around 2PM and had the whole place to ourselves.
I started with fatman scoop; hoss pierogies, cooper sharp, shaved ribeye, red wine demi glaze, caramelized onions, and one over easy egg. Absolutely amazing!
I then moved onto the angry birds. They were served wet, crispy, and delicious. The hot-n-honey sauce packed quite the punch.
Last but not least, The feast of St. Eugene; seasoned ribeye, caramelized onions, Gruyère, Egypt Star Bakery French bread, au jus, and horseradish aioli. The roll was fresh, the meat was tender, and the au jus and horseradish aioli complimented it perfectly. Top tier!
The Wooden Match has Indoor and outdoor seating. Pickup and delivery are both available.
Lunch specials Wed – Sun 12PM – 3PM.
I spoke so highly of this place to a few friends to come in Monday and first realize there was no music outside. We asked the waitress before deciding to stay and she says yes they will have live music 7-9. We decided as a group to stay being it was 6pm.
1st, we did not get our drinks until 6:40ish and appetizers until 7:30. Yes, it took this long to get our food and when we finally did, we just packed up and left being it was 8pm. The waitress had served, offered and refilled EVERY other table around except us. When we called just the ONE time for Ranch, she continued to bring others things and checking them out to the point we had to make our way inside and find out for ourselves it was Trivia night. It was never live music night and pick up refills and Ranch ourself. The food was spectacular as always!! And we wanted to give the waitress the benefit of the doubt being she seemed to be the only one, but after seeing everyone else taken care of, we realized it was apparently us she had an issue with? Unsure why because we really didn’t ask for anything at all other than why was it so quiet outside and no music (to which she also smiled and never responded). Anyway, food was spectacular as always and hopefully things will change for a future visit because my husband and I really like this place.
