Have not been here for 10 years! It was good!

Stopped in on a whim with friends after Happy Hour in Columbia for the Holidays. It was a Tuesday night and we were seated quickly. Plenty of hot tea which is very nice. I am a shrimp toast aficionado and there toast is a 7.5 out of 10 which is pretty good.
All of our entrees were on point save for the General Tso’s chicken which was a bit over-cooked -> not terribly but overcooked all the same.
The service was polite but not overly friendly.
The portions were humongous like most Chinese establishments. Three of our four took food home. Finally the pricing, especially for Columbia in Howard County is very fair for what you are served.
We are seldom in this area but would happily return if we are.

Just found my new go-to dim sum spot! Hunan Manor just had their soft re-opening with new chefs for their new dim sum brunch service! You can immediately taste the difference – everything is freshly made and flavorful. My favorite dim sum dish is the shrimp rice noodle rolls and these were a standout here – the noodles were thin but still soft, with a smooth texture that wasn’t sticky or gummy. My next favorite is the pineapple custard bun and these were yummy – the top had that nice, thick, crunchy crust you want (like a cookie) with a rich custard inside! They also had bubble tea and fruit teas, which are a nice and refreshing addition to dim sum!

They have ample free parking and their entryway lives up to its name – really transports you to an ancient Chinese manor! The space is also large and open, with many different sections – would be great for hosting events, family gatherings, or big group meals while still having some privacy.

Service was warm and attentive even during their soft opening, and the whole experience feels like a big step up for Hunan Manor. The owners also stopped by to check in to get feedback. If you’re a dim sum lover or curious about the revamped menu, this is definitely worth a visit – Columbia finally has a standout dim sum brunch and Chinese spot!

Great experience!

Went on a Monday at 6pm. Wasn’t too crowded

My typical go to for chinese food is Hot/Sour Soup and Beef Chow Fun (or Ho fun) and thats what I got during this visit. I was also surprised this place serves bubble tea so I got the Brown sugar bubble tea

In addition, they offer dim sum during certain times (which I hope to try one day)

Cleanliness: 5/5
Very clean and cool looking establishment. Love the statues and interior decor

Service: 5/5
Waiters were attentive and checked on me often

Food: 4/5
Hot tea was good

Hot and Sour soup was a little warm. Wish it was hot like the tea temp, but the flavor and the wonton strips were solid

Beef Chow Fun
Hot and fresh! Enough to serve 2-3 ppl. Very good, needs hot sauce to add a little kick

Brown Sugar bubble tea. Solid as well. A bit on the sweet side, but I enjoyed it

Overall, I recommend this place and look forward to trying their dimsum one day along with other dishes

I’m an out-of-town traveler, and I was here 10 years ago and the food was amazing. I tried it again today and I couldn’t believe the difference in food quality. Both the soup I ordered and the entree were edible, but barely. It’s the kind of Chinese food you would expect from ” Chinese #1″ buffet in the low rent district. On a positive note, the lady that took my order, brought me my food, and processed the payment was very pleasant and helpful.

Great spot for Chinese food – especially if you want to eat family style.
The menu isn’t as extensive as it once was, but it still has a lot of tasty, authentic options (along with many of the Americanized classics).
It’s a great spot for larger parties too. You can fit 12 people at their larger round tables.

This place has been around for as long as I can remember, and I’ve lived in this area for 30 years. It’s quite beautiful inside, and they have large rooms in the back with round tables that spin for parties that order a ton of food and wants to share. The service is pretty good and the food is also great.

I used to love this place. I haven’t been in a couple of years because I have a favorite Chinese place that I always go. However, I was in Columbia for an appt and went here for the convenience. I am sorely disappointed at how bad everything was and wish that I had driven to my favorite place 20 minutes away. The only thing that was palatable was the rice, but it was on the bland side. The beef and broccoli was extremely mushy and slimy. It tasted like it had been stir fried in cornstarch. The crispy beef was overcooked. The orange chicken was very tough, dry and barely any sauce. Never, ever again.

We went the day after Christmas and I was expecting it to be packed. We went early to avoid the rush, but there wasn’t really any rush that we saw. The food is great there and I never go there as often as I want to. The staff was great just like it always is.

I brought several people there for the first time and we got spring rolls for the table. With the rolls they delivered some horseradish mustard. I like hot mustard but that stuff has always been strong. I warned the people at the table that it was strong, but every person that tried it wished that’s they had listened to me more about the horseradish mustard.

Once you get past the kitsch that fills Hunan’s entry and bar area, you’re greeted by the lovely aroma of ginger, spice and teriyaki.
The cuisine is the “classic” American take on Chinese food, e.g. sesame chicken, sweet and sour pork, spicy cucumbers, etc.
The service is a bit slow, but the freshness and quality of the food makes the wait worth while. Cheers!

My family and I have been dining here for over 20 years. The service is always very fast and the food is cooked to perfection. They offer very authentic Chinese dishes as well as American favorites. It’s all great. The chef has clearly changed over the years, though. The flavor is not the same as it used to be. But still very delicious!
