We went to Babica Hen in Lake Oswego after it was recommended by a friend and arrived around noon for a late breakfast. We were seated right away, and the staff was friendly and welcoming.
My husband ordered the pork schnitzel, and I ordered the fried prawns and polenta Benedict. I asked our server for recommendations, and she offered a few helpful options, which I appreciated. The presentation and overall quality of the food were very nice.
That said, while I love both polenta and prawns, the salsa on my dish was a bit overpowering and overwhelmed the flavors. The pork schnitzel had great flavor as well, but the pork was quite thick and felt a little out of proportion due to its size.
There is a nice variety of dishes on the menu, which makes it appealing to return. One small downside was that I had to ask several times for my coffee to be refilled, and the server didn’t come back on her own for refills, and her attentiveness dropped off after we were served our food, which was a little disappointing.
Overall, the ambiance was pleasant, parking was easy, and despite a few minor issues, we would recommend giving it a try. Prices were reasonable. They automatically add an 18% gratuity. We plan to come back and try some different dishes next time.

We had breakfast here for the first time today based on a recommendation and it is arguably one of the best breakfast places we’ve tried in Portland and the SW cities.

They have a quaint coffee bar and bar counter. The decor is chic farmhouse and cozy. The service was on point. Their cocktails are delicious! If you enjoy a good Bloody, these are your people! My husband ordered a smoked pineapple sour; delicious! Their scrambles and Benedict’s are on point. Even the ricotta pancake on the side was delicious.

There are so many more things we want to try on their menu. We’ll definitely be back!

Nice sit down restaurant. Fairly noisy even with sound dampening in the ceiling but people seem very content with the wait and space. Staff are very friendly and the food was delicious. Highly recommend either a Bloody Mary or the Bloody Mary three small sampler. The burrito was delicious and added avocado.

Whoa, this place was super busy on Saturday, but really we only waited for 35 minutes. The food was great, but the eggs on the Benedict were too hard boiled. That’s really the only issue that would have made it perfect.

Due to the amount of people that was there, I could hardly complain about that issue.

I love this place. It has a cozy vibe with warm colors throughout. Their food is always great and never disappoints. If you need a gluten-free option, their gf waffles are fantastic. I don’t need a gluten-free option but they are that good. They also have good coffee drinks, which is important for a breakfast place.

A mixed bag experience putting it right in the middle of a rating.

What was great:
– some of the best lattes and mochas I’ve had
– server was very nice and attentive at the start
– best home fries ever
– fast fix after bringing us the wrong plate
– more affordable than a lot of Portland spots

What was middle of the road:
– after ordering service was so inconsistent. No water refill, no checking in if we wanted anything else, different server so I didn’t know who to flag down
– they were out of the brisket and salmon Benedict which was what we had planned on ordering

All in all there were some wins that would make me want to try what I originally came for if I was out of lake Oswego

Food was great! Service was slow. Food was decently flavorful I got the corned beef hash which was recommended by the waitress. Did not disappoint! Although it was a bit under seasoned the food was great! We went around noon on Saturday and it was about 85% full? Took us 45 minutes to get food and nobody refilled our water. Overall I would go again just because the rest of their menu looked SO appealing!

I went for the first time with two friends to celebrate the birthday of our shared best friend who passed away. She loved their sticky bun, so we ordered one to share. We all ordered different meals. The sticky bun was genuinely good. I ordered waffles with whipped butter—nothing special. It tasted like a waffle. It was browned the way I like, but the texture was soft rather than crisp. Not bad, just not my preference.
One friend ordered eggs over medium, which came out undercooked—closer to over easy. She has recently been sick from undercooked food and was understandably hesitant to eat it. We did mention it, and they offered to remake the eggs, but by that point we were already partway through the meal.
Both my order and another included bacon. The rest of the food was fine, and the portion sizes were good, but the bacon could have been cooked longer. Some of it was undercooked. We didn’t bring it up and let it go.
When the bill arrived, I was surprised to see an automatic 18% gratuity added. That one’s on me—they did have a placard on the table that I missed, and I believe you can adjust it—but still, it caught me off guard.
Nothing from the undercooked egg was comped. The atmosphere was mediocre—cute coffee-shop/café style, but nothing memorable. Overall, it’s not somewhere I’d recommend for food beyond coffee and a sticky bun.

The Waffle Waffler is the ultimate- who needs to choose between savory and a decadent treat- when you can have them both?? My favorite is the Lyonnaise option and the Berry option- my husband got the Fried Chicken option and the Banana option- see the menu and the photos to get more in-depth info. There are plenty of other great options as well. The mimosas and hot chocolate is good- I’m not a fan of their particular teas, but if you like a bit of rose in their version of an Earl Grey… you could be happy? You’ll surely come something to love. This trip service was superb. I’ve been going their for years and previously it was 60/40- hoping it’s trending towards how great it was today!

Amazing food, awesome place! All the staff were so pleasant and efficient. Indoor and outdoor seating – as visitors from the coast, we opted for indoor, and it was kind of noisy, but very comfortable.
