The Fastnet Pub is a solid low key spot if you are looking for a relaxed place to eat and drink without any fuss. The space is a decent size so it never feels too cramped and street parking is usually manageable if you are patient.

The drink selection is a strong point especially if you like IPAs. The bar has a good variety and it is easy to find something you enjoy. Prices are reasonable which makes it an easy place to settle in for more than one round.

Food wise the chicken sandwich was the clear winner and easily the best thing on the table. It was filling flavorful and felt like the safest and smartest choice on the menu. Everything else was fine but that sandwich is what I would order again without hesitation.

The staff were friendly and welcoming which always makes a difference. One thing to be aware of is that you have to close out your tab when there is a shift change which can catch you off guard if you are not expecting it.

Overall The Fastnet Pub is a good neighborhood pub with solid drinks friendly service and fair prices. Just keep an eye on the clock if you are running a tab and order the chicken sandwich.

Went looking for some great fish and chips and the Fastnet Pub delivered. It’s delicious great job to the chef.
It was my first visit to this location, but I will be back. I noticed plenty of dartboard and a pool table as I wandered around. It was a little early for much of a crowd, but the patrons seemed to be having a good time. Theres also lots of beers on tap.

Lively watering hole in the summer. This is an old New England joint so don’t expect anything fancy, from the food to the service. The owners and servers are friendly though usually hard to flag down. Great beer battered onion rings. Unsure if there is actual table or drink service outside in back as I’ve been told to go back there a number of times and never once saw anyone but locals playing games and smoking cigarettes. Cozy in winter. A place to get drunk, and not too cheaply. Irish bangers and mash were ok, but the mashed potatoes were of questionable origin/ preparation. A cool landmark to visit it Newport, but nothing to cry over if you miss it. Irish music Sunday evenings.

It’s one of the top bars in Newport. Super friendly service from the staff. And also always friendly and welcoming are the patrons. I watched soccer games there in the past. This Saturday, I was looking for a place to watch the F1 Qualifying. When I got there the place was packed and golf was on TV. I asked the bartender if it could be switched, and he would check for me. And all the golf fans were happy to watch the Qualifying with me. And not to forget the food, I had honey mustard wings and they were really good. in the past, I had the Ceasars salad and the burger before. The menu is on line.

In town for a wedding and stopped for a beer around lunch time. Bartender was dismissive and seemed to be more interested in talking with his girlfriend than attending to customers. Would recommend brick alley, pour judgment or tavern on Broadway over this place. $11 for 1 beer and not even bare minimum customer service is insane

Really Disappointed. We have been here many times but hadn’t gone in for about 6 months. We used to love the burgers with the steak fries and the chicken tenders and fries with the curry sauce. I should have known something was off when I saw the menus had changed and everything was different. Should have left then. What used to be a half pound juicy burger was a slider. Shoestring fries instead of the nice big steak ones. Chicken totally different and much more salty along with the curry sauce being way too salty as well. Service as if you are a burden and you are lucky enough to get waited on at all. Made me depressed honestly. A once comfort food and good craic place I will be avoiding in the future.

My experience at the Fastnet Pub was nothing short of amazing! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by a cool, laid-back vibe that instantly made us feel at home. The atmosphere is inviting, and the staff is incredibly friendly.

What really sets this place apart, though, is its rich history. The pub is housed in a building that was constructed in 1730 and was once the home of Dr. William Arnold, who happens to be the great-great-grandfather of Benedict Arnold. This historical connection adds a unique layer to the experience, making you feel like you’re drinking in the past.

We stopped in for a quick local brew before dinner, and the beer selection did not disappoint. They offer a variety of local options that are sure to please any palate. The quality of the brews is top-notch, and they perfectly complement the pub’s historic ambiance.

In summary, the Fastnet Pub is a must-visit if you’re in Newport. Whether you’re a history buff, a beer enthusiast, or just someone looking to enjoy a great atmosphere, this place has something for everyone. I can’t wait to return and create more memories in this historical gem!

Stopped in for breakfast and returned for some great music that evening. Best atmosphere in Newport. Large seating area in the bar, and an even larger outside seating area. I recommend stopping by for food and Irish drinks.

Wow, I wish there was a place like this near home! Great pub, fun crowd, really good lineup of bands & terrific bartenders.
I had fish n chips (malt vinegar for the chips put right on the table without me even having to ask) fish was perfectly cooked (crispy light breading and tender flaky fish) had a couple of Kilkenney drafts (amazing Irish beer, not as dark as a Guiness but richer than beer) hubby had a perfect Fastnet burger (1/2lb burger with cheddar cheese & bacon served with perfect fries)
Windows were open, the breeze was blowing, the music was playing and the crowd was happy!

There’s always a Irish pub somewhere around the corner somewhere in the world, this one however is pretty rad. They have tons of live sports on the telly, even Rugby!
They have a great outside area. The food is good and the curry fries is a winner too! Great place! 5 stars!
