We recently moved to Rocklin, and scoped out the local restaurants for a celebratory lunch. We settled on this one because we spent too long looking and ran into the traditional pre-dinner close timeframe, and this one stayed open straight through.
It’s located on a nice quiet intersection with some very good arborists. The bright marble-and-black aesthetic makes this a nice place to spend a springtime afternoon. We ate inside, but the patio seemed like a nice option.
We were quickly seated by the very friendly staff, got to grazing on some butter garlic edamame, and settled in on the extensive menu. This is a full-service Japanese restaurant; they’ve got bentos, ramen, donburi, teppanyaki, and of course sushi and nigiri. We admittedly honed in on the “House Special” menu because of the big 50% off tag in the corner. Moving ain’t cheap, and a deal’s a deal.
And these turned out to be some good deals. Luscious seared Wagyu on the “OMG” roll, a clever and bright mango-based sauce on the Placer roll, a peppery kick on the Spicy Girl roll, and a refreshing medley of fish on the “never try never know” roll. Each one was thoughtfully crafted with quality ingredients. I would’ve paid full price and some change for all of these.
What really got us on the hook for the next visit was the “Dezato” roll; it’s like if someone crossed a creampuff and a rice crispy treat and wrapped it in a nice strawberry-flavored package. It was a perfect little finisher.
By the end, we were perfectly full, and after getting the bill, perfectly satisfied. We’ve definitely done a lot more damage on the wallet for a meal like this.
As an intro as to what kind of cuisine Rocklin has to offer, this was a knockout in my book. With food like this, I’m glad to be in the neighborhood.
Back with an expanded menu!
Because it was new, we decided to try a variety of items on the menu. Everything was amazing! This comment is coming from a sushi snob Lol. They also had some good Japanese beer options to go nicely with the food.
Whatever the desert roll was that had cheesecake, was sooooo good.
Definitely will be a regular spot for our family.

The ambience was very nice clean store, newly remodeled. Staff is knowledgeable of the dishes and provided great service.
Hope people can try this place out and find unique Japanese cuisine.
